Yes and No. His dad's name is fake, but the scarf being a heirloom is real; it's found in his bio

I can't remember which chapter its in... I'm sorry ^^;; It's at the end of one of the volumes, that's all I can remember.... It's together with Renji's.

Just a couple of things. First, even though Kyouraku and Ukitake were the first to graduate from the shinigami academy, the Court of Pure Souls and Gotei 13 existed previous to the academy, meaning they aren't some of the first captains ever, just the first from the academy ;)

To the poster above me, we neither know Byakuya's father's given name, nor anyone else in the Kuchiki family aside from Byakuya himself, Rukia and Hisana. However, the statement about the scarf being a family heirloom is true.

The idea of Kaien saying "Kuchikis are humans. Humans have emotions," though, is something I can definately see happening.
