I signed up for a whole bunch of fic challenges (KenYachi @
1sentence; Bleach general series @
drabbles100; ByakuHisa @
5_povs), so expect more dumps like this from your truly ^^;; I'm trying like hell to improve my writing because... well, it's the thing that pulls my english marks up! Haha. And because writing is fun. XD~ So, three Bleach fics!
Title: Rain
Fandom: BLEACH
Characters: Kurosaki family, hints of Ryuuken.
Word Count: 490
Rating: PG
Author's Notes: Slightly angst-y. Spoilerific if you don’t know Ryuuken. Inspired by the song Tong Lei by Stefanie Sun. If you don’t know Chinese, then I have oh-so-kindly made an attempt at translating the song below the fic. Un-beta-d
Disclaimer: BLEACH is not mine. It belongs to Kubo-sama.

雨后的城市寂寞又狼狈
路边的座位它空着在等谁
The rain had been falling steadily that night. Masaki was still alive, just unconscious, bloody, and her body pinned atop their son’s. Nobody was there to see his face fall and his life crumble apart when he rushed to the scene after sensing her already-faint reiatsu getting even fainter.
我拉住时间它却不理会
有没有别人跟我一样很想被安慰
Masaki was rushed to Karakura General Hospital, and despite the fact that the head doctor there was a friend of his and had willingly treated his wife, Masaki’s life slipped through his fingers like the rain that was falling outside the quiet hospital, sliding slowly down the smooth window panes, the cool cement; like the tears that ran down his face.
风停了又吹我忽然想起谁
天亮了又黑我过了好几岁
心暖了又灰世界
有时候孤单的很需要另一个同类
Nobody could understand his pain. The love of his life, gone, dead. And he was not even able to stop her from leaving. Why become a doctor when you couldn’t save the person you held closest and dearest to you? He was left with three children to feed. Three children who would constantly ask after their mother. Three children who could not understand; who would only remind him of his uselessness that night.
Especially Ichigo, who was there to witness his father’s helplessness to save both him and his mother.
爱收了又给我们都不太完美
梦作了又碎我们有几次机会
去追
不晓得为什么爱又稀少又昂贵
Masaki was his first, and his last. His north, his south; his morning, his night. She was his everything. He had poured all that he had into the relationship. But love was like that. Life was like that.
You never treasured someone as much until you lost him. Or her.
云在半空中被微风剪碎
回忆也许美可是正在飞走对不对
He knew that memories faded with time. Whether you liked it or not, no matter how sweet or seemingly unforgettable the memories seemed. So he printed a poster with his favourite picture of his wife as a constant reminder of her presence. Of the gap that she had left behind.
啦啦...
天亮了又黑我过了好几岁
But he knew that life would never be the same again. Never.
And the ache in his chest whenever it rained was testimony to that.

Title: Noble Gases
Fandom: BLEACH
Characters: Orihime, thinking about ByakuHisa, KaiBya and ByaYoru
Word Count: 838
Rating: PG
Author's Notes: I’m the one having a chemistry test soon! Ain’t this a wonderful way to study the chapter on atomic structure and valency? ^_^;; Fic takes place around… after the SS arc, so spoilers are unlikely. My beta says it’s crack. Think what you like :o…
Disclaimer: BLEACH is not mine. It belongs to Kubo-sama.

Noble Gases.
“Noble gases” is the collective name for the 6 electrons in group VIII of the periodic table. Noble gases do not bond with other atoms because they already have an octet of electrons in their outer shell.
Orihime tapped her fingers on the table monotonously, staring at the sheet of chemistry notes on her neat table.
Noble gases… do not bond…
Hey! The tired eyes lit up as an idea struck the girl. She picked up her periodic table and stared at it for no more than two seconds before picking up a pen. It fit! Carefully, she canceled “Krypton” (atomic symbol “Kr”) and replaced the word with “Kuchiki Rukia”. Orihime leaned back and smiled, pleased with her work.
“Kuchiki-san is always hiding in a tree! Kuchiki-san always has this look on her face like Kurosaki-kun…” Orihime scrunched up her face slightly in an attempt to imitate the dark-haired girl. “And Kuchiki-san dislikes sitting with us girls during lunch… Kuchiki-san’s such a loner! A noble gas!”
Orihime thought for a while. If Kuchiki-san was a noble gas, then what was Kuchiki-taichou? All the time she had been in Soul Society, never once had she seen the man’s lips curve even slightly. Only downwards. Kuchiki-taichou wasn’t a man of many words either, and he didn’t seem to have any friends at all! Kuchiki-taichou was even more of a loner than Kuchiki-san!
Orihime grabbed her periodic table and stared at it again, looking first at the noble gases, her face falling slightly as she found no elements starting with “B” in that group.
“Hmm… does that mean that Kuchiki-taichou isn’t a noble gas?”
Boron. Valency 3.
“Maybe Kuchiki-taichou can be Boron (atomic symbol “B”)! But… Boron isn’t a noble gas… Never mind! Kuchiki-taichou can still be Boron!” Happily, she edited her periodic table once more, clearly forgetting that she had yet to finish revising the whole chapter for the test the next day.
Boron loses 3 electrons… octet of electrons in its outer shell…
“If Kuchiki-taichou loses 3 electrons, he’ll be like a noble gas!” Orihime exclaimed to no one in particular. (There was, of course, no one in the room at the time) “3 electrons…”
Her mind drifted slowly back to Soukyoku Hill.
“One spring morning 50 years ago… My wife passed away before the first plum blossom bloomed…”
Hisana. One of the three electrons that had made Byakuya complete. Having her broke the general rule of atomic structure. An atom had to lose or gain electrons to obtain an octet of electrons and become stable. It was ironic because losing her was like following the rules he upheld with all he had. And yet he had loved her so much… Losing her was like losing a part of himself.
And the other two electrons…?
Ganju-kun had told her about Kaien. She had heard from the burly man that his brother had been a Shinigami, the lieutenant of the 13th Division and Rukia’s superior. Rukia had killed him.
Kaien had been Kuchiki-taichou’s bosom friend. The two had grown up together, both being born of noble descent (though Kaien’s family was knocked off the 5 great nobles). They had had fun times together, but, another irony was that it had been the sister which he had recently adopted into his family who eventually killed his best friend. Yet another electron, another part of him gone.
“Hisana-san, Kaien-san… and the last electron must be…” Orihime put her forefinger to her chin as she stared out the window at the night sky thoughtfully. “Yoruichi-san!”
She had heard from Kuukaku-san about how Yoruichi dared to call the head of the Kuchiki clan “Byakuya-bo”, and how they’d used to play tag when they were younger. Well of course Yoruichi-san must be the last electron! Yoruichi-san must have been Kuchiki-taichou’s childhood friend, so losing her when she escaped to the living world with Urahara-san must have hurt.
Now… without those 3 electrons, Kuchiki-taichou had an octet of electrons and was pretty much a noble gas! Impassive and ever poker-faced, Kuchiki-taichou was definitely a perfect candidate for a noble gas.
“There! Aren’t I smart!? I’m going to pass tomorrow’s test with flying colours!” Orihime exclaimed proudly.
And then she went to sleep, a contented smile curving her lips as she did so.
And failed her chemistry test the next day.
Ishida took a look at her exam script and shook his head after skimming through some of her answers, “Kuchiki-san isn’t a noble gas! Inoue-san, noble gases are…”
“Oh, but she is! You see…” Orihime cut in and began her long explanation on why Kuchiki-san was a noble gas, and how Kuchiki-taichou was Boron… “And, you know what, Ishida-kun? I think you’re a noble gas too!”
(A/N: Ishida as Iodine [symbol “I”] also works, ‘ya know? Iodine is valency 1 - an iodine atom loses one electron to get an octet of electrons. For Ishida, this electron might be Souken… *shot*)
Ishida merely stared at her in amazement - what a vivid imagination the girl had!

Err, Bat? Hope this helps you remember chem stuff for this week’s test XD Ms Cheah would so throttle me if she saw this crap.
Title: The distance between us
Fandom: BLEACH
Characters: Byakuya, Rukia, Hisana
Word Count: 568
Rating: PG
Author's Notes: Spoilers if you don’t know who Hisana is. Was written a really long time ago... but I totally forgot about it =_=;; Un-beta-d

“Come, Rukia. Let us make haste,” the head of the noble Kuchiki clan and 6th Division Captain Kuchiki Byakuya turned to walk out the door, his well-kept hair falling neatly in place as though in a shampoo ad.
“Yes, Nii-sama,” Kuchiki Rukia got up quickly from where she was sitting, straightening her kimono and running slightly to fall into step beside her brother.
Adopted brother, really. She had been adopted into the Kuchiki clan not two weeks ago, because, she was told, she looked a lot like his deceased wife, Hisana. She had seen the picture of Hisana in the shrine her brother kept for his wife, and true enough, she bore an uncanny resemblance to the demure-looking woman.
“Rukia,” he spoke without looking at her. “I trust that Captain Ukitake and Vice-Captain Shiba treat you well?”
“Very well, Nii-sama! Both Captain Ukitake and Kaien-dono… and all the rest of the division treat me very well!” she replied enthusiastically, but her expression betrayed her, and Byakuya caught the tinge of sadness that descended upon her face for no longer than a second.
“Is that so? Good,” he replied, not one hint of expression in his voice. He made a mental note to visit the two 13th Division leaders to thank them for their hospitality. It was all part of formality, he told himself, all part and parcel of being the “exemplary Shinigami” he was born to be.
Yet, another part of him wanted to believe that he was going to catch up with his mentor and friend, perhaps to sit down and chat with them, maybe even go drinking with them. Either way, he would tell Ukitake to tell his division members to be nice to Rukia and not discriminate her for her new family name.
It pained him to see Rukia looking sad. It only reminded him of the pain Hisana had to go through before her death, because Rukia was the splitting image of his beloved wife.
Watching Hisana fade into nothingness was bad enough, so he wanted to - had vowed to - protect Rukia with all he had.
Rukia did not know that Hisana was her sister, and he would continue to lie to her, because Hisana had wished it so.
Byakuya and Rukia walked slowly along the winding path to the Kuchiki family graveyard on a small cliff. Silence hung in the air between them, and the heaviness had diffused into both their spirits. Rukia, because of her trouble fitting in with most of the 13th Division due to her social status, and Byakuya, because, well, going to visit Hisana was always painful.
Reaching the top of the cliff, both siblings could hear the waves roaring below. Rukia stared down at the simple grave, which simply bore the words “Kuchiki Hisana”.
Neither Byakuya nor Rukia spoke as they stared at the tombstone. Rukia noticed that Byakuya was whispering something, but little did she know that he was saying, “I’m sorry for taking so long to find her… Hisana... But here she is. Your sister… Rukia. I’ll let her call me brother… Since you will not allow her to call you “sister”. I’ll protect her… Because that’s what big brothers do…”
If she had known, perhaps it wouldn’t have surprised her quite as much to be swept off her feet and saved by him 40-odd years later, on a similar cliff called “Soukyoku Hill”.
Will slowly be x-posted to prevent over-spamming of flists. I am sorry ^^;;
