Religion is not the ends, but the means. Your problem is that symbol, beliefs, advertisements, and opinions are all one thing, power. These forms of power can be abused, misinterpereted and undermined. Your wonderfully copy/paste post (i would like to know who and where if you would cite them please) is just pointing at these three actions of power. The other three not pointed out is unity happiness and justice. The earliest laws were rleigious and were the first step to fairness. The best part of religion is its happiness and acceptance it brings. People screw up the view of religion both in miss-interpereting it and bashing it.
