I had a really great event this past weekend. I had a lot of fun with only a few moments of high stress, which was exactly what I needed.
I'm very thankful to Rick/JJ/et. al. for letting me stay in their cabin this weekend. Having such a calm place to retreat to was very helpful when I was coming into the game with so much stress.
I really enjoyed the mod to save Tall Pines. I wish I had gotten a little more personally involved, but I was being my usual shy self.
Going back to the Forest of Echoes was satisfying. I felt kind of bad for how heavy the encounter with the master of the Path of the Dancer by the Water's Edge was. I got the chance to speak of and perhaps let go of a little guilt from my character's past, which was cathartic both in- and out-of-game.
(That being said, even after being thrown tail-first into a spider cave, I think I picked the correct path for Kiala. Not that the choice wasn't obvious.)
The now-named Ice Cream Fight was wonderful. (Someone had purchased ice cream and placed it on the picnic table next to the point my group was defending.) There was something wonderfully frantic about trying to have everyone resting (and thus gorging themselves on ice cream) as often as possible.
I played far too much Shut the Box at the Tower Tavern. I needed something to fiddle with while I was anxious, and it fit the bill. Apparently I now have a reputation for being unnaturally good at the game after winning repeatedly while people were watching. (Adrian threatened to punch me if I shut the box on the first try again when we were sitting around Saturday evening. She was kind enough to let me push my face into her fist.)
I greatly enjoyed chatting with Mei Shan and Ori (sp?) on Sunday morning. The stories that we get from Mei Shan are wonderful, and I am having far too much fun tag-teaming the mischievous novice idea around Thousand Roads. I really look forward to seeing Ori again. I was nervous upon seeing her for the first time Saturday, but I really enjoyed our conversations about wanting to help people. I'm even more of a softie that I'm willing to admit.
The Sunday afternoon field fight was really cool. It makes me want to find out more about the Kami, which apparently some people have gotten involved with. The entirety of our encounter with the corrupted master was amazing. The Foxclaw(?) fight was a lot of fun - I felt really cool when my flying strike was Increased.
I made the horrible/wonderful decision to challenge him to Gazelle for our final style. (I hope people don't hate me too much for that.) There was something both deeply and oddly satisfying about running down a gazelle as Kiala.
