Breaking out of my self-imposed box.

I'm performing not one but TWO cabaret pieces tonight... in a cabaret costume.

Yes.

You read that right.

So... come to the Palace of Wonders tonight, and witness something that hasn't been seen in four years!  Me performing cabaret.

You know you want to.

I am very curious, especially since if I am not wrong, Cab is what you started with, yes?

Enjoy.

I kinda started with cabaret... My first teacher's classes weren't that style-specific, being based in the Suhaila format (which isn't style-specific). She taught our troupe some Turkish pieces, some American bellydance, some jazz-inspired stuff... I choreographed a tribal-y piece. So it was really all over the board. Even when I was performing cabaret in a restaurant, I would do fusion/artsy stuff on the side when I could. :)

Ah ok! That's very much the kind of teaching I want to do eventually, where the basics are taught and then style differences are applied. I was basing my earlier comment on a very brief discussion with you on stage names and why, for example, you had one, and I knew the style difference was one of the reasons you'd cited :)
