If you haven't been hearing numbers of civilians casualties in Iraq in the media, it's because you're looking in the wrong places. Try listening to National Public Radio. They will often report about civilian deaths which go unnoticed in the more conventional media.

National Public Radio is good for international news media, both good and bad. It has none of the bias American media typically has, since most of it comes from overseas anyway. Over the summer, when I never watched television, I got my news from NPR and was very well informed. Additionally, NPR doesn't interrupt real news to tell you what brainless dipshit celebrity got married, divorced or knocked up.

On another note, who says it's being hidden? American public apathy is at an all-time high. Most people you meet really ARE more concerned about the love-lives of celebrities than they are about civilian casualties half a world away. Remember that in a democracy, you elect a leader that represents the people. It's more than his job, it's the nature of his being. By and large, Americans are silly, stupid and violent. The problem's not really with one person, with the whole nation crying out, because the whole nation obviously ISN'T crying out. Like it or not, in a democracy a majority rules, and the majority is usually dumb.
That would be because the fucktards that are running our government right now decided it would be best to not even try to count the civilian death toll in Iraq. I remember hearing/reading that a while ago, like when the war started. Although, I am sure someone, somewhere is at least trying to keep track. I hope.
