Puppy Mills

Ok, so I've been doing a lot of research on puppy mills lately, trying to determine if the puppy store down the street from where I work buys from mills - and if so, I'm planning on protesting the store. Not with signs or anything, just standing outside and handing people packets of information on the mills, so they can make more informed ( Read more... )

While I agree that puppy mills are a horrible thing, most of them are in fact quite legal.

They are regulated by the FDA and there are raids on those mills: I think I read about one this morning actually.

The big problem about puppy mills (other than their horrible treatment of the mothers and fathers of the puppies) is that if they have a license for 500 puppies, most of the mills will continue further beyond their license and will triple their capabilities.

While the puppies found at the raid on the latest puppy mill were in peak condition, the adult dogs that are continuously bred were not found to be in such a good condition.

Another unfortunately fact is that the majority of the pet stores you see, get their puppies from a mill.
