So unlike all the people in my evening class who thougth we might have class cancelled on wends therefor no test... I knew there would be class and a test. I also knew that if it was cancelled it would of been a waste. Apparently Hurricanes (and especially tropical storms) don't phase me anymore. Seriously unless i hear catagory 3 or higher ( Read more... )

i remember sleeping at my grandma's house in miami during andrew.

yeah i don't worry about hurricanes either. People were calling work today all worried about their husbands. "Are you prepared for the hurricane?!" I was like, lady calm down!

people used to be like this with snow up north. yeah, i've lived through a couple of blizzards, but i really don't see the need for everyone and their mother to go up and buy more bread and milk than they will need to survive...

and yeah, while i didn't really know a hurricane experience like yours, i do think people are random. either they're totally stupid - i.e. completely unprepared, decide oh i don't feel like evacuating even though every sane person is, or do something stupid in the flood waters...or they're paranoid at first mention of storm...or they're the mix of us who fall in the middle.

...man, even that line about thinking there wouldn't be a test...i remember my parents telling us to remember to bring any books we would need for the next couple of days in case we wouldn't have school. but then again, we only had three snow days in the calendar year and couldn't go past june 30th so we had to keep plugging along.

well, catch ya on the flipside...of *knocks on wood* nothing.

I had a discussion with some coworkers yesterday about hurricanes. Since I am not originally from FL, but have spend so many summers here, I've been through some easy and rough hurricanes. Anyway, the question was: at what category do most Floridians really start to care/feel endangered. The answer was Category 2. Also they said, put up your shutters for Cat 1 (even if it is nothing more than rain and some puffs of air) but anything past Cat 2 is something to pay attention to.

For me, its ususally Cat 3.

OH Kibbe how I love you sometimes. All 3 of my bosses are not bothering to come into the office today. Min (the female boss from hell) is spending the entire day hiding at her boyfriend's because she is afraid of the storm. I am not even remotely phased. I pulled the long sharp objects off the porch by the glass doors in our house, but that's about it. Unless I heard that it's a HURRICANE over a cat 3, I don't even register it on the radar. And definately not for a Tropical Storm that can't even get the last measly 3 mph to make itself a H1. Horray for people who don't panic for this little puny storm! =)

You know, I agree completely.

I was at the gym watching this thing about the hurricane on the news, and I was all attentive until they said "Category 1" and then I rolled my eyes and laughed silently at the other people on treadmills who were saying things like, "Oh my god my ex-boyfriend lives down there what if he dies?!"

Category 1 is play-in-the-rain fun, not death. Geez.
