Hey there,
yap, I think I'm making this a regular feature in my lj: Reviews of the eps I watched that week. Only three series this week since Big Shots and Supernatural are both on Hiatus. And Brothers And Sisters? Well, I am way behind so no review for this either. Pretty much cuts it down to NCIS, CM and Moonlight.
:: NCIS 5x09 Lost And Found
Ok, bad news first: Hollis relocated to Lanai/ Hawaii?! For some cycling and playing tennis? C'mon who came up with this lame story line? First weak point: She's much like Gibbs and won't be happy without work for too long hence the moving back to DC sooner or later. Second weakness: Why the hell didn't you use the end of 5x03 to make them part? It would've been so much easier to do it then and there. Just let her walk by Gibbs and leave him sitting on the stairs, maybe murmuring somethings along the words "I can't deal with the shadows of your past." I truly hope that was not the end of Mibbs. Maybe the press just got something wrong and she's just on vacation. I mean her retirement ceremony was just on 11/18 ;P
Will give you a couple of episodes though to sort this out ;) In the meantime I will probably let my imagination run wild and write a little Mibbs story.
Anyways. The episode was really good despite the little Mibbs incident. The little kid was very much like a Tony clone. In the beginning, when he was waiting for Gibbs and when he was "interrogated" by Gibbs, he lost some points though (temporarily). He was a little too grown up then, not behaving like a ten year old.
And it was quite interesting to meet someone from DiNozzo's Baltimore PD past. Even if he turned out to be the killer. But it seems DiNozzo really had a rough time back there.
Tony and Ziva in Carson's room were quite funny. Tony, who didn't get what Ziva was trying to say. And in the very end he still can't top the highscore just because of some typo... shit happens...
Also liked Abby acting as tourguide and babysitter. She's probably the babysitter every little kid would dream of.
When Gibbs was interrogating Carson's mom and she asks him whether he's got kids, it seems like Gibbs really made his peace with the past for the very first time.
What was the scene at Jen's place about? Come on, she didn't act that jealous the previous (Mibbs-)episodes. And now she's jealous so totally out of the blue? First the scene where she reads the article in Stars And Stripes and displays a really mischievous smile. Then she makes a hit that obvious on him? She was more subtle before. And I'm glad Gibbs told her off. Wouldn't work anyways, after all those years.
Did you notice the little mistakes in this episodes? They messed up at least twice. In the end when they find the car on Maple St., McGee gets out his iPhone and the map pops up screaming Ave Crocker into your face. And like that wasn't enough it even clarifies they really meant the address of the studios. In the very right corner you can read Valencia, Ca. :D
The other thing they messed up is Carson's age. Very early in the episode when they discuss Brian's bio in front of the plasma, they say he married at age 19 (which would be 1994/95) and Carson was born two months later. Would make him 12/13. But when he beats Tony at this game he's suddenly just ten years old. It's much more like him. So they probably just messed up Brian's dob. Considering the age of Carson is correct and Brian got married at 19 the real dob would be 11/14/77. Which... surprise... is the dob of Brian Dietzen. Do you think I'm crazy for picking up on things like this? Maybe a little bit^^
:: Criminal Minds - 3x09 Penelope
That was one very good episode. Definitely made it to my top 5 cm episodes. Despite the fact the case and especially the motive wasn't what I expected, I considered this one thrilling and brilliantly done. I don't think I would've guessed a storyline like that.
Spotlight was the relationship between Morgan and Garcia. Starting with the feeling of guilt, bothering Morgan because he didn't really listen to her to Garcia's bad conscience for throwing his doubts to the wind, just like she did with her guts.
The scene at the hospital was quite funny. Garcia tells what happened inbetween worlds and how all of this was illustrated by David Bowie singing "Heroes" And then she ends her story asking: Is David Bowie really gone?
It made me smile to hear Bundy mentioned once again. It's weird how the mention of an infamous serial killer makes me smile. Maybe something I should think about...
It was very much like Garcia to help victim's families to get a listen, even though it's not really legal.
I also liked the scenes in Garcia's apartment, when Morgan is there to protect her and the talk before that.
It may not go with the majority but my personal highlight was the scene in the very end when JJ out of all people shoots the one shot and afterwards when Garcia thanks her for doing so:
Garcia: I never wanted you to have to do something like that.
JJ: I never even blinked. You do whatever it takes to protect your family.
And to get it all to a lighter mood the moment when Garcia and her temporary replacement Kevin meet for the very first time and "Heroes" is played. All you can do their is scream with David Bowie from the top of your lungs.
Ah and Rossi? Still don't like him. Though he proved he does have a reason for being rough on people every now and then. I felt for Garcia when she was interrogated by him, otherwise she wouldn't have spilled about her side activities without him.
:: Moonlight 1x09 Fleur De Lis
Just watched last night's episode. What the h-ll was that? I mean I can understand (to some degree) he still diggs Coralin/ Morgan. But how can he do something like that knowing she is Coralin indeed. I mean if he really turns her back into a vampire this would just scream terminal trouble for crying out loud. Men!
And Beth? Well, I can understand her as well. Even her attempt to murder Coralin/ Morgan. Though I'm not sure what her real motive was. A deep hatred because she was the one who held her captive all those years ago or plain jealousy because Coralin/ Morgan hits on the guy she loves.
Liked the fact they were playing The Fray's "Look After You" though.
And I'm so curious how this story will continue. But if I got it correct there won't be any Moonlight for the next two Fridays *sob*
Guess that was it. Hope they can settle the WGA thingie next week. I really do need my series to keep the balance ;)
Hope you all have a wonderful weekend.
Take care & stay safe,
Mel
