Hey guys,
I guess you were already afraid of this post, but after coming home from the theater I just have to get this off my chest... Ok, I will hold my breath for a second
So this movie was everything. A beginning, an end, a thriller, a comedy. You might never have seen an episode of TXF though I think that's not even remotely possible still you'll love this movie for the entertainment provided. And in case you're a fan like me you will adore it for all those tiny hints. The case itself is only mildly TXF-like. The new agents only means to give Mulder and Scully an excuse to jump in.
I so loved how they threw in little hints to the good old days as well as they paid attention to the fact not everyone knows about the protagonists background. The little basic facts were well chosen to illustrate M&Ss motivation.
And I bet the name of the truck stop was very much meant as little greeting to the fans. I mean nutters? We definitely are. Feed? Well the movie was something to feed the nutters indeed. Also loved the little cameo CC did. And the little Skinner/Mulder-slash hint. Never been a fan of TXF-slash stories, but considered this really funny.
And MSR? Do I really have to say? There's no one better for Mulder than Scully and visa versa. How they try to live without each other and instantly fall into old patterns the minute the meet again. So uber-cute.
The ending? Well, romantic without being cheesy. The fact the first ending only showed Scully starting surgery and demonstrating how she erased her doubts (probably in more than just one way) was great. But not half as great as the real ending. Mulder and Scully out in the ocean, escaping the dark. Am I the only one seeing the parallel to PotC? I mean Will & Elisabeth have a son and Will can visit Elisabeth and their son on this little island only once every ten years. And exactly ten years after the first movie we see Mulder and Scully drift on the ocean? C'mon... let's just hope I'm wrong and it won't take another 10 years...
I'm pretty sure, I'll be back and edit this one. Just need to calm down a bit :P
Trust no one,
Mel
