The woman went into her room and Kangin laid on the couch for a while and just stared at the ceiling. Wondering how Leeteuk was doing, he went into the sleeping man’s room. Leeteuk’s lips were slightly open and his hair was covering his face slightly.
“I hope it stays like this forever.” Kangin whispered quietly as brushed the hair away slightly. “I love you Park Jungsu.”
He kissed Leeteuk on the forehead and left the room.
Chapter 11
“Thank you for coming Mr. Kim.” The doctor shook Kangin’s hand and gestured to the seat across from the doctor’s desk. Kangin took and seat and wondered why he wanted to talk to him.
“Is there something wrong with Jungsu sir?” Kangin asked.
“I’m afraid there is.” The doctor took off his glasses. “You see, there comes a time when the brain would lose some memory however that usually occurs when the person is older and has lived out most of his or her life.”
“O…kay.”
“I’m afraid Mr. Park’s memory is deteriorating rapidly, faster than it would be for an old man having the same illness. Pretty soon he’ll forget everything he has ever done. I’m terribly sorry.” The doctor stood up and bowed.
Kangin drank his bottle of soju while eating a few sidedishes at a little shop.
“No, you’ve done the best you can doctor.” Kangin stood up to leave.
“Mr. Kim,” The doctor called out as Kangin was heading out the door. “If possible, you should make him as happy as he can before he forgets.”
“Crap I should get home before Leeteuk worries.” Kangin finished his bottle and left the money on the table.
He took a taxi back to his farm where he found Leeteuk caring for the tomatoes his gran had planted.
“Welcome back.” Leeteuk gave Kangin a hug. Kangin wrapped his big arms around the tiny body of Leeteuk’s. “So what did the doctor say about you?”
“I should stop smoking, that’s all.”
“Are you going to stop?”
“Hmm…depends…”
“On what?” Leeteuk looked up at him.
“Will you say yes to my date today?”
“Yes!”
“Then I’ll stop smoking.” Kangin gave Leeteuk a kiss on the forehead.
“Let me go change.” Leeteuk ran off to his own house and Kangin realized he should go grab some cash from his luggage.
He walked inside his room and found it to be clean and the linen was a different color. Kangin opened the window of his room and let some air in. He took a deep breath and looked out the window at the blue clouds. It suddenly became dark.
“Leeteuk?” Kangin pulled the hands off his eyes.
“Ready to go?” Leeteuk asked.
“Yeah.” The stronger male lifted him up on his back as the skinnier one screamed.
“Kangin!” Leeteuk protested as his boyfriend piggybacked him out of the house.
“Will Youngwoon be able to handle that type of grief?” His mother’s eyes turned to look at a picture of their son when they first went to the park. He wore a pair of blue jeans and a red t-shirt. He held his shovel in one hand and pail in the other.
“I don’t know, but this might be good for him.” His grandmother said softly while making tiny swirls on the floor.
“I don’t think he’ll even be mature enough to handle this type of situation, getting him to get better grades is difficult enough.” His father protested.
“You haven’t seen him at the farm have you?” His grandmother looked him in the eye. “That boy has changed. He’s become a mature and handsome man.”
“Here you go.” Kangin handed the stuffed doll he had picked up from the machine to Leeteuk.
“Thank you…” The other male blushed a crimson red.
“So where do you want to eat at?” He grabbed Leeteuk’s hand and they walked together hand in hand.
“Hmm…anywhere.”
“Then…” Kangin scanned the area and found a little shop that no one seemed to take notice of. “Want to go there?”
“Okay.”
They walked in to find a pretty little place that was filled with different little antiques.
“Hi, welcome to Ant Café.” A waitress bowed. “How many seats?”
“Two.” Kangin said.
“Right this way.” They followed woman in to a booth area where they could be disturbed by no one.
“I will be back to take your order.” The woman bowed and left to attend a few customers that had arrived.
“Hey Kangin.”
“Yeah?”
“I’m curious, why did we go on a date?”
“You don’t want to?”
“It’s not that, it’s just unexpected, that’s all.” Leeteuk said.
Kangin bit his lip behind his menu and tried to choke back tears. “Let’s order.” He changed the topic. Leeteuk took a peek from his menu to look at Kangin but was blocked by Kangin’s menu.
“Hi, are you ready to order?” The waitress flipped open her memo pad.
“Yes. I would like to have fettuccini.” Kangin gave her the menu.
“And for you sir?” She turned to look at Leeteuk.
“Umm I’ll have the same.” He gave her the menu also.
“And for drinks?”
“Just water.” Kangin replied and the waitress nodded.
There was a brief moment of silence before Leeteuk spoke up.
“Don’t you have school?”
Kangin cleared his throat. “No.”
“Don’t lie.”
“Okay yes.”
“Shouldn’t you be in school then?”
“I’d rather spend time with you.”
“Kangin!” Leeteuk scolded. “You shouldn’t throw away your future.”
“You are my future.”
Leeteuk looked at him in surprise.
“I’m serious. Park Jungsu, you are my future and I will always be by your side.”
“Kangin…”
They both turned red and luckily the waitress came by with their drinks and food.
“Enjoy!” The waitress resumed to serving other customers.
They ate in silence as both didn’t want to look each other in the eye. Kangin laughed inwardly as he never would of thought he would be the one treating someone to a date much less even saying those words he just said.
Leeteuk’s heart was pounded so fast. He never would of imagined that anyone would say that to him! He looked at the man across from him and blushed. He was so sweet…
“Would you like any dessert?”
“No thank you.” Leeteuk replied and Kangin paid the bill before they left.
As they walked, they saw an old woman wandering around not knowing where to go.
“Kangin, we should go help her.” Leeteuk said with worry.
“Okay.”
They walked over to the old woman who was walking back and forth like a lost child.
“Hello granny.” Leeteuk greeted politely.
“Hello.” The old lady said in a frail voice.
“Are you lost?”
She nodded.
“Where do you live?”
“I don’t know.”
“Do you have any relatives?”
“I’m not sure.”
Kangin looked and saw on her wrist there was a bracelet. He held up the old woman’s hand and saw what it had said. There was her address and phone number written on it.
“Teukie, she has an address.” Kangin showed him her plastic bracelet that had words on it.
“Let’s take her home Kangin.” Leeteuk turned to the old woman. “It’s okay granny, we’ll take you home.”
“Thank you so much for brining my mother home!” A middle aged woman bowed as did the old woman.
“You’re welcome Ma’am.” Leeteuk bowed.
“I’m sorry for all the trouble my mother has caused. You see, she has Alzheimer’s so she doesn’t remember anything.” The woman whispered. Kangin bit his lip as he heard the news.
“Poor granny.” Leeteuk said sadly. “I can’t believe she has Alzheimer’s….”
“Yeah…me either.” Kangin looked at Leeteuk.
“I wonder what it’s like to forget everything…”
Kangin turned to Leeteuk and held his shoulder. “Park Jungsu, marry me.”
Leeteuk looked up and saw Kangin was serious.
