Bunny Hunt

Sungmin opened his eyes and smiled. Today was the day he would meet it. He bounced off the bed and jumped onto the bed next to him.
“Min, what are you doing?” The little boy mumbled as Sungmin jumped on his bed.
Heechul bit into his apple and saw light blue, pink, yellow, and lavender colored objects around the room.
“Appa, what are you putting up? It’s cramping my style.” Heechul commented as Kangin hung up a bunny poster on the wall.
“It’s Easter sweetheart.” Leeteuk said cheerfully as he went into the kitchen to prepare breakfast.
‘That explains it…” Heechul looked at Kyuhyun who looked miserable as he trudged into the bathroom.
“People, group meeting!” Sungmin squealed as he beckoned the kids into the room.
“What is it hyung?” Ryeowook asked as he sat on Sungmin’s bed.
“Today is the day I accomplish my goal!”
“You said that last year.” Eunhyuk pointed out.
‘What is it they are talking about hyung? Why does Sungmin hyung look like appa when he hasn't had a beer?” Henry asked Zhou Mi who was coloring a music coloring book.
“Sungmin wants to capture the Easter Bunny.”
“Huh?” Henry said in confusion.
Sungmin counted the number of kids and pouted. “Where’s Heechul and Hankyung hyung?!”
“They went to play Little Big Planet.” Shindong reported while eating a chocolate chip cookie.
“Lucky.” Kibum mumbled softly to himself, he didn’t want Sungmin to hear or he would attack him like a rabid bunny who hasn’t had a carrot in days.
Sungmin wore his appa’s army hat from a few years ago and opened a drawn map he had made two days ago from white paper and crayons. He placed a chess piece on the map.
“Hey, that’s mine.” Siwon looked at the king chess piece.
“Sorry hyung.” Kyuhyun apologized and sighed. There was no stopping Sungmin now.
“Okay boys, we are going to catch the Easter Bunny today.” Sungmin pointed to the chess piece. “Does anyone have an idea?”
The room stayed silent as the kids wondered what to say.
“Oh I know! Pick me!” Donghae said energetically and waved his hand in the air while Eunhyuk tried to calm him down.
“What?” Sungmin tilted his head and his hat almost slipped off.
“I need a phone!”
“Okay…Hyuk, go get a phone.” Sungmin commanded.
“Yes sir.” Eunhyuk saluted and marched out of the room. He walked into the living room where Kangin was playing the game with Hankyung and Heechul. The three didn’t even notice the little monkey as he walked in.
“Appa, can I borrow your cell phone?”
“Sure…” He said, slightly distracted, and handed it over.
“Thanks.” The little boy walked away.
Eunhyuk went back inside Sungmin and Kyuhyun room to show them the cell phone. Donghae pusheda few buttons and turned on the speakers, there was a ring but a voice came on.
“Allo?” A woman’s voice asked.
“Hi!” Donghae said excitedly and whispered. “See, aliens.” His eyes shone with glee.
Once the level was cleared, Kangin stretched and remembered.
“Hankyung, what did Eunhyuk ask?”
“He asked for your phone.”
“Ah…let’s start the next place.” Kangin maneuvered with the controller.
Heechul giggled and the two looked at him as if he was insane.
“What’s so funny?”
“Eunhyuk asked for you phone.”
“What’s so funny about that?”
“When there’s a Eunhyuk there’s a….” Heechul hinted to him.
“Shoot! There’s a Donghae!” Kangin groaned and left the living room.
“Allo? C’est qui?” The woman asked.
“Ask her about the Easter Bunny!” Sungmin said.
“Um…Easter Bunny.” Donghae started when a huge hand grabbed the phone and hung up.
“Appa!” The kids shouted in shock as Kangin towered over them.
“What are you kids doing?” The man asked as he saw the kids crowding around Sungmin.
“Nothing…” Sungmin had already hidden his map with his pillow. “we’re just uh…telling stories to each other!”
Kangin looked at the blond boy suspiciously but let it slide as he wanted to go back to his video game. Once he had left, Sungmin revealed the map again.
“So what’s the next idea since appa took away our phone?”
“We’ll ask God!” Siwon shouted enthusiastically which was followed by a few groans. “I’ll pray for us.”
As he closed his eyes, the chess piece moved slightly and he opened his eyes to find the chess piece had moved around three inches.
“It moved!” Siwon said in awe.
“Hyung it was just a gust of wi-” Kibum covered Kyuhyun’s mouth.
“Do you want to read the bible?” Kibum whispered. Kyuhyun shook his head profusely.
“Okay, that’s where the bunny will be.” Siwon pointed to the spot on the map.
“Okay, remember, we’ll go in partners, if you find the bunny, shout something out.” Sungmin said and the kids nodded.
“Kids, breakfast!” Leeteuk shouted from the dining room. The kids ran to the table and settled down as they began eating hurriedly. There was silence as the kids were wondering what would happen this Easter.
Once the kids have finished eating, Leeteuk lead them outside to the backyard where it was filled with eggs.
“Okay kids, there’s an Easter egg hunt! Have fun!” He shouted and the kids scrambled. Shindong collected as much eggs as he can and so were the other kids. Sungmin picked up a few but his eyes were on the bunny and that’s when he spotted it. The big pink bunny looking at him with glass eyes that seemed to shine happily. Sungmin dropped his eggs and shouted. “Bunny!!”
The kids looked up and saw it. It was actually there.
“Attack!” Sungmin led it by throwing his eggs at it. The bunny tried to dodge it and Siwon came out of nowhere with Arrowhead and began throwing water at it.
“Bunny, be gone!” He screamed as the water hit the fur of the bunny costume. Kibum started reading out of the bible while Siwon emptied the water bottle.
Yesung grabbed his net and swung it on the bunny’s head. Ryeowook stared with wide eyes, still in shock as he was still confused as to why the bunny was even there and other than that, it was a big bunny! Henry hid behind Zhou Mi since the bunny scared him.
“Hyung, it’s scary!” He was shaking while Zhou Mi comforted the poor boy.
Heechul snickered and began kicking the bunny in the stomach much to Hankyung’s horror. Sungmin looked at the black hair boy and began to do the same followed by the rest doing the same. Eunhyuk had gotten on top of the bunny and began jumping on it while Donghae giggled and joined in with him. Hankyung and Kyuhyun watched in horror as they tried to pry Sungmin and Heechul off the poor bunny who now had a bug net on his head and was wet as well. Shindong, who was busy collecting eggs and eating marshmallow peeps, heard shouting and looked up. He ran to his umma who was reading a magazine and tugged at Leeteuk’s apron.
“Oh, what is it Shindong?”
“Umma, look.” He pointed with his sticky fingers. Leeteuk looked up, thinking he would see happy children, only to find them beating up a bunny. His eyes widened as he knew the bunny.
“OMGOSH!” He ran over and pried the children away. “Don’t kids!”
“Umma, I want the bunny!” Sungmin shrieked as Leeteuk tried to pull him from it.
“Okay, but you know, you can’t keep the bunny. The Easter bunny has other errands to do.”
Sungmin pouted and agreed to just chat with the bunny. Sungmin and the bunny sat down on the bench and began talking, mostly Sungmin telling him about his stuffed animal obsession and the bunny nodding once in a while. The rest of the kids resumed to collecting eggs.
Soon, the sun began to set as time flew by and Leeteuk beckoned the kids in. He told them to put the candy away and to take a nap since they didn’t have one in the afternoon. Yesung whined but eventually fell asleep on the couch while he was protesting the nap. Leeteuk kissed him on the cheek and went outside to where the bunny was.
“Are you okay?” Leeteuk asked.
“No,” the bunny took off the mask. Kangin was all bruised up around the stomach area and groaned. “I hate Easter now.”
“But Sungmin looked so happy to see you.”
“I guess it was worth it…” Kangin sighed and drank the beer Leeteuk handed him.
“You know, next time, you’ll be the bunny.”
“Haha. You should change, you’re soaked.” Leeteuk told him.
“Seriously though, you’re doing it next time.” He walked back into the house.
“Do you want to sleep on the couch?” Leeteuk threatened as he closed the back door behind him.
