Canon: Sailor Moon
Character: Kino Makoto | Sailor Jupiter
Timeline: Post Sailor Moon R
Personality: Mako's personality has a bad habit of getting buried beneath her reputation. Rumor has it that she was kicked out of her old school for fighting before transferring to Juuban Middle School, and her physical prowess as well as her confrontational tendencies make this very believable. This reputation has led a lot of people to avoid her despite it being a large misunderstanding. The misunderstanding, however, isn't that she doesn't fight. She is pretty quick to resort to violence. It's that what fights she does get into are because she's trying to protect a victim. She'll even go so far as to interfere in gang violence to help a complete stranger, as is shown when she's introduced. When asked why she wears the uniform she does rather than the traditional uniform of the school, she says it's more her style. It is actually similar to the signature style of delinquent female gangs in Japan at the time.

The most noticeable traits Mako displays are her persistence and aggressiveness. The combination has molded her into a unique blend of outgoing and independent, both willing to be friends with people and yet separating herself from the pack at the same time. Much like Rei, she is usually seen as being strong, and she tries to uphold this image. This doesn't only apply to physical strength. She supports her friends emotionally - trying to be observant, talk them out of ruts, and make sure they're happy, even if it means convincing a rival in love to follow her heart and do the right thing even though her intention was to convince said rival to leave so she could have a chance with her man. Mako is quick to fight, but she's also quick to apologize. She's just not afraid to take the initiative, no matter what the initiative is. She seems to live by the motto "Que sera sera" - whatever will be, will be - but she doesn't use it as an excuse to sit back and let things happen. She uses it as an excuse to take risks because whatever the consequences, they may just be worth it.

Even though she's generally considered a tomboy, she actually has very feminine and domestic hobbies. She loves to cook and is constantly complimented for what she makes. Flower arrangement is another hobby, she's a talented ice skater, and she's even known to enjoy cleaning. Above all, though, she has an overwhelming habit of instantly crushing on anyone who resembles her old boyfriend or "her sempai who broke her heart."
Background: Makoto's parents died in a plane crash when she was still young, and she has taken care of herself ever since. She now lives alone, and that combined with her reputation for fighting makes it no wonder that she hadn't had very many friends until Usagi. The only real friend she mentioned prior to her meeting the sailor senshi was a boy named Shinozaki. She said they were childhood friends, and he was there for her when her sempai broke up with her. From the way she acts, it's clear that this break-up was a harsh one. She really appreciated his help and eventually paid him back by giving him blood after he had a bad fall.

Mako first met Usagi one school morning when three thugs got mad at the blonde for running into one of them. She beat two of them, and the third ran away crying, after which she told Usagi to be more careful before walking away. The two girls met again later that day when Usagi found out Mako had transferred to her school. Usagi quickly asked to try some of Mako's lunch and lavished it with compliments, thus earning her eating privileges for years to come. It was at the arcade that Usagi introduced her to Ami and Rei.

It wasn't long before her help was needed, when a guy she was crushing on was turned into a monster right before her eyes. When he attacked Sailor Moon, she picked him up and threw him to the ground. That's right. She threw a monster. It was revealed that she was Sailor Jupiter, and she transformed so that she could better aid Sailor Moon. They defeated the enemy, who Sailor Moon was able to turn back into a human, and Makoto easily accepted her new role as a sailor scout, a protector, which she had always been anyway.

The girls are forced to defeat and purify six more monsters of similar origin, one of whom ends up being the girlfriend of Makoto's and Usagi's mutual crush - Motoki. Mako was rather depressed at discovering he had a girlfriend, but when Usagi showed a similar reaction, she quickly changed her tune - convincing the blonde that they should continue pursuit and that there would be no hard feelings no matter which of them managed to win Motoki's heart. In the end though, Motoki considered them to be like little sisters, and neither girl has snagged him yet. Yet being the keyword.

Soon lengthy discussions about their former roles as protectors of the moon princess and the importance of finding the aforementioned princess came into play more and more often, until it was revealed that Usagi herself, Sailor Moon, was who they were searching for. In the process of discovering this information, the senshi's protector Tuxedo Mask was injured and kidnapped by their enemy, brainwashed into fighting against them. While this didn't affect Makoto directly, she began to see the connections between Usagi, Rei, and Mamoru - Tuxedo Mask - and tried to keep the situation light and bearable.

Eventually, the five senshi found the location of their enemy and set out to defeat them once and for all. Though she was the one talking about the future before they left, Makoto was still Makoto, and she was the first to engage the five monsters sent to stop the senshi. Seeing the gravity of the situation, she essentially committed suicide in order to take out two of the five monsters in a large electrical explosion. The last words she spoke were to tell Usagi to cheer up.

Usagi, however, revived the scouts with the silver crystal, though they no longer retained their memories of each other. This didn't last very long, as shortly after Usagi had already regained her memories, the four other sailor senshi were brought together by coincidence, and Luna had no choice but to return their memories so that they could transform and protect themselves from the new threat - Eiru and An's cardian monsters. Makoto, never really having been a "normal girl" in the first place, as Usagi had wanted everyone to be, didn't mind becoming Sailor Jupiter again and was glad to have her friends back.

The senshi fought to protect people from the cardians, aided by the Moonlight Knight, someone very similar to Tuxedo Mask. While she hadn't been interested in Tuxedo Mask, Mako found herself infatuated with this particular protector and his way of saying "Adieu" which reminded her of the sempai who broke her heart. Ami's passing comment about Eiru having transferred to their school around the same time as the Moonlight Knight began helping them led Makoto to decide to investigate the likeliness of it as an excuse to get close to Eiru and make him lunch. Unfortunately, being an alien, he didn't quite understand the concept of eating, and her gestures were lost on him. Not only that, but An was irate and attacked.

Eiru and An proved to only be a minor problem though, and they soon realized that they were mistaken in their ideas regarding love. The true problem falls right out of the sky and onto Usagi's head. A little girl with pink hair - whom they later come to know as Usagi and Mamoru's future daughter, having traveled to the past in order to find the silver crystal so that she could save her mother from the Black Moon and the Wiseman. As they fought the Droids sent back in time to twist the past, the scouts received a power-up.

At one point, Makoto and Minako had a fight over whether or not they were obsessed with their old boyfriends, but they resolved it in time to defeat the enemy and continue to protect Usagi in their role as sailor soldiers.

The senshi made their way through the Black Moon, defeating the Ayakashi Sisters, then their master, then his associates one by one until they realized the Black Moon was being deceived by Wiseman. In order to save the world from destruction, the girls entered the dark crystal that had been erected in the city, and the next big battle began. Usagi and Chibiusa, her daughter, both transformed, defeating Wiseman with the combined power of their silver crystals. Afterward, Chibiusa returned to the future, and life returned to normal, or what could be considered normal for the sailor scouts.
Abilities/Additional Notes: Mako is adept at martial arts and is surprisingly strong for a girl, the strongest inner senshi and perhaps nearly as strong as Sailor Uranus as well. She has lifted men and creatures twice her size into the air without transforming into Sailor Jupiter.

As Sailor Jupiter, she attacks using lightning. She has three different attacks that she gains successively throughout the first two seasons. First is Supreme Thunder which sends lightning bolts charging outward from her body. The second is Supreme Thunder Dragon which shapes the crackling lightning into a large dragon that opens its mouth and consumes the target. The third comes with a new transformation wand which allows her to change into the second stage of her Sailor Jupiter transformation and is called Sparkling Wide Pressure. It condenses lightning into a ball that Jupiter can throw.

Sample Journal Post:
[Accidental Video]

[When the video begins, the view reveals a fourteen year old girl dressed in a junior high school uniform as she stares quizzically down at an ROUS that has been knocked unconscious on its back. She pokes it with her foot a few times before peeking around the other side of it and poking it some more. When it still doesn't move, she finally crouches down, her knees beneath her chin as she pokes at it with a small stick. Clip-on rose earrings gleam in the sunlight as she puts on the ridiculous show.

It makes one wonder how the ROUS was KO'd in the first place.]

Man, someone really needs to call an exterminator. I didn't even know they could get this big!

Sample RP: Kino Makoto wasn't the smartest person in the world. She knew it. Ami had her beaten in that department at least ten times over. (And she wasn't jealous, really!) But honestly. She didn't think she was stupid enough to get on the wrong bus. Not just the wrong bus but a bus to the middle of nowhere. This place looked like something right out of a novel! Sure, she hadn't been paying much attention to what was zooming by in the windows, but that was because she'd been studying! She couldn't really have been that distracted, right?

Right?

The only answer she received was an angry hiss, and she whirled around to see an oversized rodent staring her down. From appearance alone, it was obvious it housed at least ten different deadly diseases, maybe even the plague. Who let a rat grow that big? Was it a new enemy? Already? She didn't get to contemplate the possibility for long. It lunged. Straight toward her, into a forceful grip, and right over her, landing head first in the dirt.
