I've just read the entry I wrote on the 28th of April last year (lo, one of only three I managed to write) and am, as usual, amazed at what a bad blogger I am

Congratulations to you and J! Thank you for updating. I always feel sad when someone gets tired of journaling and simply disappears. I hope you'll update again after baby arrives. :)
It would be fair to say that I didn't so much get tired of journaling as tired of thinking about my levels of frustration and upset. Nothing terrible happened; it was just that I continued to be stuck in a job I was only planning to do for a year, with no apparent way out, and thinking I should be feeling lucky to have a job at all. And whenever I sat down to write about it... I just couldn't.
However. I am now about to go on maternity leave for a year, and whether or not I take to full-time motherhood or not, it'll be different. And I hope it'll give me a chance to take stock and decide what to do next.
And yes, I am hoping to journal more. And, I hope, not alienate everyone with sickening quantities of baby talk.
Great to hear from you. I read about you a lot and see the occasional photo, but that perspective only tells a small part of the real kicking-k story. Your story about first month conception reminds me that we had the same situation....every one of our three babies was conceived as planned - born in September, October and November (that's a good time of the year to have them in Sydney, Australia for climate reasons and for school entry). It's nice to know that contraception wasn't just a waste of time (7 years of taking The Pill) and that some medical interventions do actually work well!
