I just saw the most intensely ridiculous commercial.

It was a bunch of "inspirational moments," I guess you could say. A woman walking into a board room, presumably on her first day of the job because I'm pretty sure most high-powered CEO's don't get nervous before each and every work day. Whatcha think about the Ottawa Hosipal (Civic) not having smoking anywhere on property. I think it just went into effect , like 3 days ago..(or someting) and Ive been by twice...and theres ppl (granted not a lot) on the sidewalk puffing away.

Laaaaame! I honestly just find the whole thing a little too Draconian these days. No smoking near the oxygen tanks? Cool. No smoking in the neonatal wing (or any other given wing)? Cool. No smoking anywhere? Draconian.

It just seems to me like we're edging ever so slightly towards prohibition with each given year. Probably sounds a bit overdramatic but consider how many restrictions have come down in the past five years or so. So I don't know. I can see them trying. I can't see it flying, but I can see them trying...

I think their tactic should be to take the smoking sections away from schools, and spend more time monitoring the stores that are known to sell smokes to high school students. Teenage smoking is going steadily down, last time I checked, and people are less likely to pick up the habit in adulthood. So make it harder for the underage kids to get smokes in the first place, and let the rest of us make our own choices.
