So growing up in the south suburbs of Chicago, the DMV was in the Heights and I seem to remember a painfully long wait to get anything done. 45 minutes just to get to the window. Pay your fee, yadda yadda, wait some more. Take your picture, wait some more. Even the DMV downtown or in the northern suburbs wasn't better (just less grimy, ratty ( Read more... )

To be fair, I think the Illinois DMVs have gotten a lot better in the past few years. But that should not take away from your hapiness.

...is more of a problem of Cook County than anything else. Shortly after moving to my new place, I needed to do something about my license. Took about 5 minutes.

Though the fact that they let you have it so easily would worry me more - but that likely just has to do with my business. I really get nervous about personal information given the incidents of identity theft.
