Why did you decide to go the community garden route instead of growing at home? Just curious as I know you've done both. :) We looked into community garden plots last year but they go so quickly in VA - I'm hoping that next year we can either use the yard of our rental or get into the community garden right around the corner from our place.

Question answered! I'm really hopeful that we can get into the community garden by us - it's in an area with mostly single family homes with nice yards, so hopefully all of the neighbors have their OWN gardens, and the community garden can be shared with us renters. I'm going to talk to our landlord about using part of the yard as well - there's no dedicated garden spot, but we could build raised beds or something for the front yard. The couple in the other unit have a bunch of boxes in on their front stoop, so I suspect they'd share garden space with us if we have it available.

I want it to be spring NOW!
