A log between Kidoumaru & Shino, takes place Saturday morning.
warnings: none
Saturday morning and Kidomaru knew
he had sometime before his meeting tonight, if she bothered to show up that is.
"Long as I have time to kill I might as well get some research done."
He took the subway to the Shinbashi station and walked toward the Hibiya
library. "I hope they have a useful book or two on the subject." He
muttered to himself, pissed the other libraries failed him.
Shino was spending most of his days at the library now. His
mother wasn't really all that entertaining to talk to, and television was just
a bit loud for him. The library was near perfect. Silence was kept by
librarians, so the only noises that would be heard were the shuffling of books
or pages and occasional talk from the checkout desk.
Shino was near the non-fiction section of the library,
reading in one of the armchairs that were there. He had a fiction book, but the
non-fiction section was the one with the chairs to read it. He was reading The
Hobbit silently, sometimes coughing a little.
A commotion was heard from the
front desk, it seems Kido's temper had gotten to him since the librarian wasn't
able to help him as much as he wanted him to. Something about privacy of people
who take out books. "It wouldn't kill you to just tell me one bit of
information." The librarian tried to hush him down and everyone was
staring but Kido didn't care. He traveled to far to give up. "I'll just go
look and see if you idiots just made a mistake." He took the gum out of
his mouth and stuck it the book the librarian had open and closed the book on
it.
Shino raised his head from reading his book when he heard a
commotion at the front desk. He narrowed his eyes slightly- but, of course,
someone else looking at him wouldn't be able to tell that was what he did due
to his dark sunglasses.
Finding that it was nothing very important, nor anything
that he would be interested in, he lowered his head and continued reading. He
inwardly hoped that it wouldn't create such noise in the library that he would
need to leave. Shino wasn't exactly looking forward to going home.
Kido was making a commotion as he
walked around the library, almost daring anyone to do something. He knew he
couldn't continue his research today so he decided to at least get in some good
reading. He went to the non-fiction section, since it had chairs. He grabbed a
book on spiders and sat in one of the chairs near Shino. He kept muttering to
himself, not wanting to sit silently.
Shino raised his head again as he heard more unnatural
noises and then turned his head as he realized that the person who had been at
the desk was now sitting near him. When he heard the person start muttering, he
glared slightly.
"Can you please not do that?"
He asked the other man, hopefully politely. Just because
someone didn't have the patience to sit and read a book quietly didn't mean
that he would leave yet. He liked to read in peace.
Kido’s muttering stopped when he
realized someone had actually asked him to be quiet. He glared at the kid and
looked him over. "Is there any reason why I should?" He was hoping on
starting a bit of a commotion, anything to make the trip worthwhile. Then he
realized he recognized the kid. "Hey wait, don't I know you? Yeah, your
the kid who is obsessed with bugs aren't you? The only guy who can appreciate
spiders as much as I do." A grin formed on Kido's face, he didn't care
that he was loud and acting like an ass in the library.
"Yeah."
Shino minimally answered to the questions, still slightly
irritated about the noise that the other person was causing. He coughed a
little before asking,
"What was your name?"
Shino could tell him off for being noisy in a library when
he learned his name. He took a slightly deep breath, trying to relax his
irritated ness, and flinched slightly when he got a sudden chest pain- nothing
to worry aboutª
"Tch, how can you not my name?
I'm the main man, the ruler of the free world and the best there is the best
there was and the best there ever will be. Kidoumaru, call me Kido." He
extended a hand; he didn't expect the guy to take it but knew it was the right
thing to do at least. People were beginning to stare and assumed they were both
together.
"I'm Shino."
He replied, not accepting the handshake. He would call the
other teenager Kidoumaru- Shino didn't like using nicknames. He was still
irritated at him, after all.
"Also, you're not supposed to make lots of noise in a
library because some people are trying to read, Kidoumaru."
He said, hoping this would end the conversation. He turned
his eyes back to his book.
"Ah you would think that, but
take into account how many people are reading right now and how many people are
hanging on our every word. They find my commotion much more entertaining."
He grinned and laughed; knowing everyone in the library was watching and
listening to them. He realized Shino didn't want anything to do with him but he
also knew he was bugging him to no end and that made it worth it.
"Well, I don't find it entertaining at all."
He said, once again shifting his attention from his book to
Kidoumaru. Shino found it annoying that many people had their attention on him
and Kidoumaru- also the fact that the other teenager was purposefully trying to
annoy him. And the people could go on with their lives- it wasn't like noise in
a library-attracted people like moths to a lamp. ª Well, that was untrue, but
still.”
Kidomaru took some gum out of his
pocket and began purposely chewing it loudly and oddly close to Shino.
"Come now, I bet you like having everyone’s attention here. Kinda like you’re
the lord of the library."
"No, I don't."
Shino replied, scooting his chair away from Kidoumaru
slightly after he spoke. It was a rather difficult task- the armchair was
rather big, and the librarians probably wouldn't like having their furniture
moved around all over the place.
Oh look at that a rebel, moving
Library property. You know that's against the rules right?" He began
blowing bubbles just to further annoy Shino. He was tempted to stick gum in his
book like he did the librarians, just to get a rise out of the guy. His
level-headed-ness must have a boiling point.
"It was only a few inches. I can easily put it back
once you leave."
Shino replied truthfully. He moved the chair a few inches
away even more once Kidoumaru started blowing bubbles. He was still relatively
calm on the outside, but inside he was seething. He would try not to let it
show, though.
Kido could tell he was getting to him;
he was beginning to respond with more then a few words and moving away instead
of ignoring him. "But how will you know exactly how much to move it? What
your not exact, or my pestering of you causes you to forget to move it
back?" He blew one big bubble and held it out in his hand like a ball,
moving it really close to Shino's book. "The chair is nothing if they
blame you for damaging one of their precious books though..." He let the
words hang like a threat.
Catching a quick glimpse at the page number, Shino quickly
shut the book away from the ball of bubble gum in Kidoumaru's hand. He didn't
want to have to pay for a book ruined by candy. Not only would it cost money
that Shino's mother probably wouldn't lend, it would be embarrassing. He didn't
speak this time, not wanting to accidentally say a non-stoic sentence.
"Oh I almost made you crack
there. Your like this bubble, one good hit and you will burst." He poked
the bubble and popped it, putting the gum back in his mouth. "At least I
know you have your limits." He shrugged. "I won't bug you anymore.
Lost its fun." He tossed his book at Shino and begun walking away.
"See you here next time I visit the library." He began walking away.
"Let's hope I don't."
Shino said, then visibly relaxed when Kidoumaru left, but
still had the other teenager's book in his lap now. He glared slightly, getting
up to start moving the armchair back.
Kido turned to face Shino again and threw his gum at him,
having it land on his chair instead. "Oh we will meet again, count on
it." He left the library but not till he disorganized the desk of the
librarian on the way out.
Shino glared at the retreating
form, unnoticeable due to the sunglasses, then hesitantly removed the piece of
gum from the chair and started walking towards the garbage can near the desk.
How come all of his social
interactions this summer vacation so far had been bad ones?
