I've been attempting to figure out the whys behind my months-long inability to produce anything in the way of decent fiction, and the only thing I can come up with is that I've been reading. If you think it might work for you, go for it.
As for me, I didn't find your recent stories forced at all. I think they are so deep and perfectly written, and that they make me feel good . So, I don't think they need to be better than that!
But. Again, if you do think you can do better than that, well, it's not me the person who will argue you out of doing it :-)
