Really, using which compiler? Most only support 238 characters.

Specifically the official Stroustrup-approved previously-unreleased GNU/Linux C/C++/Objective-C compiler 3.1.9b (20060711.2) with the unofficial manually pre-compiled Syntec-Dynamax (in conjunction with Compkey International) LongVariableLongJump code-complete source module (v2.5b), which allows unique variable names of up to 65536 characters in length, and it treats "=" (aka "double-score") as a valid name-character in positions greater than 10000, thus complimenting "_" (or "under-score").
