Hi, you amazing human! This is my first time participating in Femslash Exchange. Thank you for creating for me! I'm SO excited to see what you come up with. I hope you have a good time creating, and please don't feel too pressured by my likes and dislikes! The main point is that you have a good time.
General likes: What I end up loving really depends on the fandom and pairing - I love being pleasantly surprised by tropes and genres that I didn’t think would be "my thing". Broadly, I love humor, friendship, adventure and romance. I swoon and gently die at some well-done bittersweetness. I love dark adventure themes (war, caper, survival, whatnot) combined with teamwork, bonding, humor and caring. There's nothing like a good sense of looming despair to help characters sort out their damn feelings. :D I'm equally delighted by lighter atmospheres, particularly stories and scenes where teenagers get to be teenagers (rebelling, partying, experiencing firsts, being drama queens, etc.).
Tropes I like: bedsharing, forced proximity, roommates, survival, adoption and parenting, road trips, stories that center around artists and their particular craft, university and academic life, timetravel AU, Hogwarts AU, meta, forced bonding, bodyswap, highschool, art AUs (pirate, fairy tale, winter wonderland, historical, scifi, cyberpunk, western, etc.!), domesticity, slice of life, politics, burnout, breakups and other real life issues, friends with benefits, enemies with benefits, crossdressing and drag, magical theory in the HP universe
Squicks: I’m mainly squicky about super fluffy fluff and super angsty angst, but even these can be fun if they’re delivered in a humorous context. I’d prefer for you to avoid anything really that seems very out of character, but that being said, I don’t mind exaggerated character traits in the name of humor at all. Misogyny, homophobia, racism, whitewashing (for HP, biracial Hermione and black Lavender are canon for me), etc. are all very obvious squicks to me.
Smut? I prefer the variety that leaves more to the imagination, but don't feel forced to constrain your inner smut goddess too much. If you feel that it suits the story, by all means incorporate it.
Night in the Woods
Ships: Mae Borowski/Bea Santello
This game and its characters and relationships are incredibly lovable and relatable. The atmosphere and plot are a perfect mix of heartwarming, sad, suspenseful and spoopy. If you haven't played this, do yourself a favor and get it in the next Steam sale. (A playthrough is only a couple hours long.) Particularly after recent horrible events concerning the developers (CW: abuse, mental health, suicide, see
here,
here and
here if you wish to know the details), I want to reclaim my love for the game and its characters.
What I love most about Mae and Bea is how there is such an undertone of caring towards each other in their relationship, no matter how depressed or emotionally held back they are. I’d love to receive anything with these two characters, be it dark, bittersweet, soft or funny. Any background characters from the game are also very appreciated.
VA-11 HALL-A
Ships: Sei Asagiri/Stella Hoshii, Julianne "Jill" Stringray/Lenore Kurow, any!
I'd love to see where Sei and Stella's relationship develops when they finally get to sorting out their feelings towards each other, and I'm equally fascinated by Jill's past with Lenore. But really, this game has the most amazing potential for femslash, so feel free to pick any two characters and go with it! I haven't read any fanworks based on this, so I don't have any strong headcanons. I just feel for the characters and really love the atmosphere: the dystopian reality, the undercurrent of depression, the lonely apartment. Keep things suitably depressive but heartwarming and I'm sure to love it!
Kathy Rain
Ships: Kathy Rain/Eileen Summers
Would you like to create for a fandom that (as I'm writing this) has only 1 fanwork on AO3? In case you haven't heard of it, Kathy Rain is very loyal to the old point'n'click genre. It's a few hours long, has beautiful art style, and it has surprising depth and deals with rather dark themes. It's feels very full-rounded and I highly recommend it (expecially on a rainy autumn day)!
I'm thirsty for some Kathy/Eileen. I loved how well our dark, savvy and somewhat tormented detective was balanced out by her dorky roommate. Their relationship went quickly from just playing out tropes to something that felt real and tender. What's their future like? Any missing moments from the story?
Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Ships: any, but particularly anything starring Sapphire, Astrid, Borkagh the Steel Heart, Rayya and Muiri!
I've spent enough hours with this game to have a number of headcanons, but I'm not all that particular about them so take and leave what you want. I see Astrid as someone very charismatic - someone everyone falls hard for, only to realize that she wanted something from you all along. Muiri is a deceitful, manipulative type who seems more innocent than she is in reality, but somehow manages to wrap everyone around her finger. I believe a heart of gold lurks under Sapphire's cold and mysterious exterior. Borkagh was my first wife in this game, and I'll always have a soft spot for her no matter what. I love her story line and always enjoy seeing where that goes. <3 Rayya I see as someone fierce and brave, a balanced companion for the Dovakhiin.
Stardew Valley
Ships: Haley/Leah, Maru/Penny, Emily/Sandy, Abigail/Leah, Leah/Penny, Haley/Sandy, Emily/Leah, Haley/Abigail, Emily/Abigail, Abigail/Penny
Prompts: 1. I'm curious about Sandy as a character - where does she live? What's her relationship like with Emily? 2. Haley has a most persistent and annoying crush at the most unlikely person... Leah! Leah, who is outdoorsy, down to earth and walks around in her muddy boots - the opposite of everything Haley thought she wants. 3. Abigail has always wanted to be an adventurer, but deep down, she's scared of venturing too far into the mines. But when Haley challenges her to show her around (and maybe search for some beautiful gems) she's put into a tight spot. 4. Abigail has been trying to beat Journey of the Prairie King for weeks, when suddenly a new name appears on the leaderboard, setting a new high score! (Abigail/Emily) 5. Domestic scenes about Leah's and Haley's life together: gardening, drinking coffee on the porch, picking flowers, seashells and drift wood. 6. Maru goes to the library every day to catch a glimpse of Penny with the kids. 7. Anything!
Carmen Sandiego (2019 cartoon)
Ships: any!
This is yet another fandom where I feel that every female character is not only AMAZING, but shippable! Throw in some theft, action, glamour and enemies-to-lovers and you've got pretty much anything I could ever want.
Derry Girls
Ships: Michelle Mallon/Orla McCool, Clare Devlin/Erin Quinn, Clare Devlin/Michelle Mallon, Michelle Mallon/Erin Quinn, Clare Devlin/Orla McCool
Fair warning, I lived in Northern Ireland for a year and I even visited Derry a few times, so this show holds a special place for me. This show is the fucking craic. I love how ridiculous and exaggerrated everything is, how each character is lovable in their annoying way. My faves are Orla, Michelle and Clare.
Prompts: 1. Clare's first kiss! 2. After Clare's coming out, Erin is plagued by thoughts of the two of them together. It must be because Clare fancies her, not the other way around, right? 3. Another one of her genius ideas, Michelle convinces Erin that kissing in front of boys is the way into their pants hearts. 4. Orla has never felt the need to make things overly complicated. When she gets curious about kissing, she goes to the first person that comes to her mind. 5. Anything!
Everything Sucks!
Ships: Emaline Addario/Kate Messner
This is an absolute gem of a TV show with its comedy, 90s references and theater kid feels. The buildup to eventual Kate/Emaline was done so well, and I adored and related with Kate's sexuality struggles. I've only read a handful of stories about this show, and I don't have any preferences, but humor, teenage feels and theater elements are much appreciated!
Prompts: How did their relationship pick up from there? How did their friends and family react? What sort of struggles did they have to overcome when Emaline graduated earlier? How was figuring out her bisexuality for Emaline?
Twin Peaks
Ships: Audrey Horne/Donna Hayward, Donna Hayward/any, Audrey Horne/any, Laura Palmer/Ronette Pulaski, Norma Jennings/Shelly Johnson, Josie Packard/Catherine Martell, also any that were in the nominated pairings list!
I CAN'T BELIEVE I FORGOT ABOUT TWIN PEAKS IN THE NOMINATIONS. I'm dying to read some Twin Peaks femslash, particularly anything starring Donna or Audrey. I have a future headcanon for Donna becoming a police - if that speaks to you, snatch away. I love the atmosphere of this show - how it's full of hidden things, secrets, sexual allure and mystery. Here's some prompt ideas that you are completely welcome to ignore:
Audrey/Donna - Years after the Laura Palmer case, Donna is the sheriff of Twin Peaks. Audrey left town after high school and the last that was heard from her was that she was on a plane heading as far away from Twin Peaks as possible. What does it mean when suddenly visions/signs/clues about Audrey start appearing into Donna's life?
Audrey/Laura - Laura kept secrets from everyone. This is one secret no-one knew about.
Donna/Maddy - Donna always had a crush on her best friend Laura. Now that Maddie is in town, she's as confused as ever.
Laura/Ronette - Finding solace in each other in dark moments.
Norma/Shelly - One-time hurt/comfort.
Note: I haven't seen season 3 and likely won't!
Harry Potter
Ships: Fleur Delacour/Hermione Granger, Marlene McKinnon/Dorcas Meadowes, Tracey Davis/Daphne Greengrass, Gabrielle Delacour/Ginny Weasley, Tracey Davis/Luna Lovegood, Irma Pince/Aurora Sinistra, Hannah Abbott/Hermione Granger, Sue Li/Padma Patil, Hermione Granger/Romilda Vane, Hermione Granger/Angelina Johnson
Last but not least, the fandom I spend most of my time in. I've written list of my preferences for this fandom (
here), but it might be a little out of date. I've written some prompts below for each pairing, but only use these if they inspire you!
Fleur/Hermione - 1. What happens when Hermione and Fleur are forced to work together (for the Order, for work, etc.)? 2. Hermione and Fleur are pulled into investigating the disappearance/death of Viktor Krum, who they both kept in touch with until recently. 3. Adultery!fic - Hermione never thought she’d be a participant in cheating, but her relationship with Fleur has spiralled to unexpected depths. 4. Hermione’s schoolgirl crush on Fleur re-ignites when Fleur and Bill suddenly announce their divorce.
Fleur/Hermione/Bill - Fleur and Bill open up their marriage.
Marlene/Dorcas - 1. Scenes from their home. 2. Marlene and Dorcas meeting Harry as a baby. 3. The love story of Marlene and Dorcas told by someone else (eg. Lily or Alice). (Background wolfstar is very ok with this ship!)
Daphne/Tracey - Daphne is straight, or so she tells herself. Her best friend Tracey on the other hand isn't all that particular about who she gets with - she'll let anyone put their hand up her skirt if she thinks it'll be fun. With a confused jealousy she doesn't understand, Daphne asks Tracey to practice kissing with her and they get experimental behind the curtains of Tracey's dorm bed.
Gabrielle/Ginny - Ginny and Gabrielle are forced together in all the family events. "Ginny, make Gabrielle feel welcome. Ginny, show Gabrielle around the village." The trouble is, that neither Ginny or Gabrielle are all that keen on getting to know each other.
Tracey/Luna - Luna has never been one to make harsh judgements of people, even Slytherins. When Tracey needs help passing her Care of Magical Creatures O.W.L, Luna offers to help.
Irma/Aurora - 1. She’s smart, cool and completely unapproachable. 2. They used to date and things didn't end well. And now, suddenly, they're colleagues.
Hannah/Hermione - 1. They’re both passionate about social justice and bond while doing political campaigning. 2. Hannah does the catering for a Ministry event that Hermione is in charge of. 3. Romcom: Hannah is in charge of catering for Hermione and Ron's wedding. A wedding that might or might not be happening, by the looks of it.
Sue/Padma - Padma has tried every obscure, subtle hint to get Sue to realize how she feels about her. Perhaps a meddling Parvati helps her finally get the message across. (I don't think I've ever read a fic about Sue! I imagine her as a quiet, shy, diligent type but you are free to change my headcanon!)
Hermione/Romilda - Hermione doesn't know who she despises more: Romilda Vane or herself for repeatedly falling into Romilda's bed.
Hermione/Angelina - Hermione has always felt insecure about her inability to fly, so when she sees an add for private flying lessons by Angelina, whom she vaguely remembers from Hogwarts, she decides to take the plunge.
(Other pairings are welcome as well! Check my HP likes post that's pinned to my journal.)
