Being there is now just over 24 hours left (I DON'T KNOW IF I'LL MAKE IT, GUYS), have a kick-you-in-the-face article about writer's block by Chuck Wendig: http://terribleminds.com/ramble/2011/07/19/25-ways-to-defeat-the-dreaded-writers-block/

NOW WRITE, AND PANIC, AND WRITE SOME MORE. DO IT. DO IT NOW.

This one is SO ME:

Kill The Shiny
As modern souls we are besieged by distractions. Text messages and tweets and spam-bots and porn and TV-on-demand and cyber-LSD and digital cupcakes and only the gods know what else. Escape the gravity of your own distractions. Turn it off. Power it down. Use a program like Mac Freedom or Write Or Die. Close the door on all the piffling, waffling, middling bullshit and make sure it’s just you and the word count.

Also the notation about carbs explains SO MUCH.

Uh, so, can anyone help me? I have never used just .txt for whatever reason. So before I send off my submission, do I have to use the tags for line breaks, too? Do I put in the "br / " tag?

LJ recognizes the enter key as a break tag- so as long as you're doing that, you'll be fine. That being said, I would highly recommend copypasting the html in LJ or DW's html editor to double check in rich text that everything's on the up and up and that you didn't miss anything.

Thank you! I took your suggestion, and I believe it works fine.

(Of course, there's always that nervous doubt you get in your stomach when doing such a thing for the first time.)

No problem. Just remember, even if you DID miss something, the mods can fix it. When they put up the post giving us the fics, there will be an option to put an auto-screened comment on there to poke at them for things like, "Whoops, messed up this tag in x fic, I meant y, can I get it fixed pretty pleeeeease when someone gets a chance? Thanks!" I once forgot to end an italics tag near the beginning of a fic, so pretty much the ENTIRE thing was in italics. ^_^;;; Soooooooo... it happens.

My point is, I'm sure you're fine, but even if there's a mistake somewhere, it's not a big deal. So you can relax a little. :D
