I really don't understand the hate. I absolutely love Office 2007, and I'm looking forward to Office 2010.
Yes, I understand there are some Excel functions that don't work quite right, but I also know that I've always used Excel more as a database than a mathematical analysis tool, so I'm not affected by the frustrations that you've written about.
But man... Microsoft OneNote is simply amazing.
Having just converted over to Windows 7, I'm adjusting to new interfaces on that front, as well. But technology always moves forward, and I think the new designs are more intuitive for a new user. It's folks that are used to doing things "the hard way" and are sticking to their habits that have the most problem.
I don't really have much problem with excel 2007. I also prefer Access 2003 to Base, so I do have that installed as well. My gripes are specifically with Word 07, and how it has become much more tedious to format a page the way I want. I actually "downgraded" to Word 2003 for a time because I could get things done so much faster, but open office is free, and I didn't feel like reinstalling after my most recent reformat. However, I almost never use word/writer, so it's practically a moot point to me.
