So R & I were supposed to go up to San Luis Obispo this weekend; we set this up about a month ago. But our friend's daughter just came back from her first day at summer camp with a note saying "your daughter has most likely been exposed to the chicken pox", and after talking to her doctor, Hillary said she was worried about exposing me. So we ( Read more... )

I won't even see my sis' family because they have plans with her hubby's family. I have a feeling we'll be cranking through our Babylon 5 DVDs (R didn't watch the series originally), and I'm gonna COOK! I'm really enjoying the fact that one cooking lesson has given me so much confidence in the kitchen :-)

I've figured out how to use the pressure cooker, have a new rice steamer that I need to fiddle with, and am eagerly awaiting a shipment of a few items from 2 companies that do mail order of the rice, grains, and beans that I couldn't find at Whole Foods.

Who woulda thunk *I'd* enjoy cooking anything but spaghetti (my usual potluck staple)?!?

Well, all new stuff, a new interest, and it is making you feel better and get healthier... I think cooking has to be excellent as a new hobby. I haven't done any good cooking in ages, have felt so rushed in life but now that TIff is safely at college I hope to do a lot of different things. Wish we had a Whole Foods. There's one the next city over but not that worth the effort and the Seattle store spoiled me. It is HUGE and amazing.

Sounds like you need to do a ritual to Discordia to welcome her into your life, my friend. You'd be amazed at how it will help you welcome chaos, deal with it in a healthy way.

who needs Discordia when I have Loki living with me? kij66 August 16 2007, 14:50:14 UTC
R has this whole Loki/chaos thing, which pretty much serves the same purpose :-)

I have soooo much trouble just being STILL... But we have some DVDs we haven't watched yet, and Best Buy isn't too far away if we wanna get somehting newer. Maybe I can talk R into a trip to this place called DVD planet; it's about 45 minutes away, but they have a phenomenal collection of films & TV series' MUCH cheaper than Best Buy, so it's always worth the drive...

I know what you mean about sitting still...that's part of why I work with little kids, our attention spans match. Unless I'm writing or reading (with some background noise even if it's just the dog breathing) I have a hard time staying put. Weekends we stay in make me stir crazy and I find ANY excuse to get out for a little while...

I think I replied wrong to this before. Still getting used to how it all works. What I said was:

Of course we are. We're crew. Can't wait.

Hecate does have a way of getting what She wants! Looking forward to seeing you, if you decide to come out. :-)
