For the past several years, keeping a journal has not been a priority; but it had and has its purpose. It is a connection with people, with friends and readers and myself. I do not yet know what I plan to do here as I restart. For now, let's say that I am happy and busy, and very absorbed with my final year of graduate school ( Read more... )

Also! Don't ever think there aren't pearls, even in the midst of a simple journal entry. Tatsuko "bunny-furred but grown bird-boned with time...", that's beautiful. I've had old cats, I know how that feels when you pet their old bodies and feel bones under the softness where there used to be all soft fat and warm muscle.

That's right up there with "...her tail took ten thousand positions, each like a rapid brush stroke - the fluid calligraphy of a cat's life." I've never forgotten that. Pearls.

It is better for you to write fiction and no journal than for you to write journal and no fiction--but both is best!

Hooray! Welcome back. I, too, find I don't post to LJ as often as I used to - FB and such just make it so easy to drop little one-liners and other shared stuff that we forget about the power and connection that comes from well-thought-out posts.
