Well think about their indifference to that technology, and then relate it to yourself. It's like, if you stepped on an escalator with me, and I turned to you and said,
"ERIKA, THE STAIRS."

And you're like "._.?"

And I'm like "THEY'RE...THEY'RE MOVING!!!"

"._."

":D!!"

"._.;"

":D!!!!!"

Familiarity is certainly conducive to that sort of unimpressed behavior -

also, think about the fact that if the news people on CNN were presented a situation where a family of nine orphans had their has torn to shreds by a hurricane flood, and the newscaster's first reaction to it was:

"COOL. A HOLOGRAM."

I knooooww ^.^'

Once in school we read this book, Sophie's World, (a fictional/historical novel which goes over the history of Philosophy), and in the novel the author speaks of the "faculty of wonder," which refers pretty much to that... As a philosopher, one must preserve said faculty of wonder and, not only keep on being fascinated by the surrounding world, but also question everything instead of taking it for granted and saying "oh, that's just the way it is."

We're losing that, Ryan O.o society overall carelessly increases its indifference over time!
But one must battle it! We must preserve our faculty of wonder!! We must seize the day in awe!!! We must...
Agh, computer's slow... This thing's obsolete.

Definitely! I am especially glad because I have family scattered all over the globe ^.^ (But thanks to technology--and smoke signals and pigeons--I can easily and immediately contact them anytime).

Come to think of it, it's truly amazing how far we've come in only a few decades, (even in the last 5 years--although the change does seem more subtle).
