Well you say it's your birthday....
So I saw in the news today that Ringo Starr was in town and planning a lunchtime event to celebrate his 68th birthday. He was going to appear outside the entrance of the Hard Rock Hotel where he wanted everyone to flash the peace sign at the stroke of noon.

You made a big impression for a girl of your size
So today we headed back down to the Taste of Chicago to spend our 4th seeing some bands we like, namely Old 97s. Alejandro Escovedo and Gomez were both also on the bill, and they were terrific - but this post is mainly focused on the 97s.

Songs in the Key of Kike
So today the McCawley clan (Me, Jo, and Maddie - Cam's on vaca) made our way downtown to attend the Taste of Chicago. I love the Taste... for all the crowds and madness, I really love it down there. It's where I gave Jo her ring last summer next to Buckingham Fountain and it's one of the first "Chicago events" I went to after I moved here.

While on our visit to the PacNW to visit my family, we stopped in Roslyn, WA for a quick visit to the stand-in for Cicely, Alaska - the setting of one of our favorite shows, Northern Exposure. Happy Mothers Day to all you Mom's on my list.... tu_tartaruga of course... but also geekymary, bnladylara, mom_o_cass, and gfrancie. Also jenxteen, who I know doesn't actually have kids - but you're close to being a step-mom, and that counts!
