I'm not even done with my BSN and I'm already mulling over the thought of switching careers. I love, love, love diggin in the dirt, dreaming up different combos of flora and hardscape and admiring the fruits of my work. you could always sleep on it for a bit, let the honeymoon phase of the idea fade a bit, and see if you're able to deal with the harsher parts of its reality.

being a nurse would probably offer you more financial security as they are in demand. plus it's always nice to help out others dirctly. also, financial security would allow you to enjoy your hobbies of gardening and design. that, and you'd probably be able to appreicate your hobbies even more.

i'm in the design field and i've always loved to draw. but sometimes, drawing and designing every single day gets tiring and at times may feel like any other job out there. i thought that if i did finish my masters in urban planning or finish my MBA and worked in those fields, i might be able to appreciate design even more because i don't do it 12 hours a day.

you could probably just take certificate courses on the side on gardening design if you want it as a side job or more as a serious hobby.

anyway, good luck!

yeah, nursing would be the more stable and sensible choice. although i've seen some reinforcement in going through with nursing over the last week, i'm still entertaining the thought of maybe doing landscaping in the future. add that to my list of becoming a nurse anesthetist, going to culinary school and becoming an event planner. =)

i can see your point in possibly getting sick of doing what you love day in and day out. i think that's my problem, though- finding that one thing i can stick to and devote my energy to without thinking i'm missing out on something else. so many things to do, so little time and money.
