I love how no matter where you live in this country the Frat boys are all exactly the same.
I like Hemingway too, although I used to HATE him for some reason. My favorite short story ever (well tied for first) is Hills Like White Elephants. It sounds weird, but I think people in our generation are at a disadvantage. The best art of the past century (in my opinion) came out of WWI and II, (maybe Vietnam) That's what we need, the Iraq war is really just not cutting it.

really. the greatest movements in twentieth century art were a product of the great wars. iraq is bad, but it lacks the senseless slaughter of WWI and the pacific side of WWII, or the unbelievable human cruelty of the holocaust.
how am i supposed to develop as an artist without seeing the tattered flesh of my comrades molding in the hellish lunar mud of the trenches?
