Second Shot

~Present Moment~

He stares up at the sky, tears slowing to a minimal when it begins to lightly snow.

Large, icy drops of the frozen endeavor drizzle over the surrounding forest, Donghae’s tear streaked face frowning as he recalls the definition of the strange, watery type of snowflake.

Eunhyuk…

Eunhyuk is capable of making only four types of distinctive snowflakes: Snowflakes of Merriment, Snowflakes of Passion, Snowflakes of Melancholy, and Snowflakes of Destruction. The first one is the most easiest to recognize. The powdery substance is actually sprinkled individually by Eunhyuk’s own two hands, the fairy most likely in a good mood as he dances gracefully amongst the clouds, sprinkling his magic here and there to beautifully blanket the selected area with a light layer of fresh, sparkling pillows of frozen fluff. Creatures of all kinds admire this dance, and it’s only an intimate dream to actually witness the beauty of a Merriment’s fall, respectfully called the Winter’s Ballet. It was mystifying, but the Snowflakes of Passion happens to be Donghae’s absolute favorite thing to see, the swirls of either livid or delighted mists of silver sparkling across the floors as light puffs of frozen kisses either embrace you or send you to a frozen slumber, never to wake again. It’s a breathtaking sight, and is only witnessed when a Snow Fairy is at the height of his or her’s excitement, usually combined to powerfully heighten the effects of Merriment or Destruction. On the other hand, if seen alone, without the addition of anger or happiness, it is due solely because of pleasure, sprinkling the surrounding area with dew drops dazzled with a heart stopping bite of ice; a sight Donghae actually is familiar with. He can proudly state that only he, with the exception of the blonde’s love for strawberries, can describe the rare phenomenon from firsthand experience. With his own two hands has he brought Eunhyuk to such heights, and it’s a feeling he could never forget, knowing that very moment just how much of a tease his beloved blonde could be.

Eunhyuk’s Snowflake of Passion happens to be deathly seductive when it’s purity is untouched by merriment or disaster, the chill teasingly crawling up to whisper sweet words of unspoken promises, promises Donghae has craved and pined for since the moment he’s lain eyes on the other. It has the ability to render Donghae’s helpless, but he loves it, loves how it causes his body to tremble, to bow down to Eunhyuk’s every need, making him want to grant Eunhyuk’s every wish and desire. He loves the way it mesmerizes his senses entirely with a drastic need, an insatiable hunger for more, creating an inexplicable urge to devour everything and everything that is Eunhyuk’s soul, Eunhyuk’s mind, and Eunhyuk’s yearning. It tortures him, slowly yet deliciously, driving him raw, and after experiencing it firsthand it’s a helpless act he’s willing to provide for the rest of his life.

Another wet drop of slush hits his nose, bringing his thoughts of Eunhyuk’s beautiful yet cunning ways to express his self back to the fact that this type of snow was the type he’s hated seeing. Snowflakes of Melancholy…

It’s cold, messy, and often times like depressed slops of snow dripping onto the Earth, rightfully explaining to the planet that his Eunhyuk was crying.

His heart and soul is actually crying somewhere right now.

Even though Eunhyuk’s Snowflake of Destruction, a flake rumored to freeze anything and everything it ever touches within second and strongly overcoming that of a Snow Storm (which is actually Kyuhyun playing roughly with his Snow hyung), has NEVER been seen, he very much prefers that over the idea of his love crying his heart out…

Knowing this, Donghae sighs dejectedly and forces himself to give the Snow Fairy his space, wiping his own fallen tears to be strong for his fated love.

He misses Eunhyuk already.

They haven’t seen each other in so long, yet once again, the Snow Fairy leaves him to wallow in his own self-pity and loneliness without question. Yet… the falling Snowflakes of Melancholy give him a twisted feeling of comfort, knowing his Eunhyuk is just as sad as he is somewhere else. It was most likely about the stupid rose he had to freeze, but it doesn’t hurt to think that maybe Eunhyuk was crying over him also, missing him too…

The quick thought makes him smile a bit, memories washing over him as he lies under a leaf and watches the falling slush drizzle over the forest.

Eunhyuk had always been a bit of a crybaby.

His smile grows affectionately, recalling the very first moment they ever met each other; it was love at first sight for Donghae.

They first met as kids in a ceremony welcoming all new Weather Fairies at Sapphire Arcadia.

The old, yet sparkling, majestic palace was specifically made for this prestigious group; a meeting place so one could plan the weather in each upcoming year. It was an honor that can compare to no other, and each chosen fairy was given the power to rule the sky.

Every 100 years, the highly respected Weather Fairies of Sapphire Arcadia hold a grand ceremony to celebrate the new incoming children chosen to be appointed as their new secedes, making sure to invite all kingdoms of importance to warmly welcome the children in.

Donghae had been 6 years old at the time, a young prince sparked to the brim with buzzing interest and mischievous ideas beyond reason; he already had planned several schemes of mischief as he walked in with 8 year old Kangin and 3 year old Kyuhyun.

What more to expect from a child who was born in the Storm Kingdom, the palace known for its naughtiness and chaos?

Regardless, 16 children were chosen and he, Kyuhyun, and Kangin were all picked to be next in-line as one of the mighty and powerful Weather Fae, an honor of the highest respect exclusively given to them by the current Weather Fairy of that position.

Donghae was to be the new incoming Weather Fairy of Lightening, his brother the new Weather Fairy of Thunder, and young Kyuhyun as the new Weather Fairy of Natural Disasters, all positions of great strength and ultimate power.

Though he didn't care too much of the position, being 6 and all, and just wanted to play while walking through the large, white majestic gates to meet the other appointed young fairies.

It was there he set eyes on Lee Eunhyuk, a young snow fairy who was going to be the new representative of Snow.

The delicate boy was only slightly smaller than he, a year older, and radiated innocence, but Donghae couldn’t find it in him to think too much about it because never in his life has he ever seen a creature so beautiful.

Big, single-lidded chocolate brown eyes delicately surrounded by a silvery mist had gazed curiously upon him when Donghae was briefly introduced. Snow white blonde hair fell into those brown eyes, and those eyes faintly glowed silvery-blue when he blushed bashfully at Donghae’s open gawking.

Donghae remembers falling in love with that blush, moving closer to get a better look at it before Eunhyuk had shyly hid behind his father, occasionally peeking with a soft flutter of his wings when curiosity became too much.

He can remember everything from that moment.

Eunhyuk had been wearing a ceremonial white tunic made of silver snow, a proof of royalty for Silver Snow was a jewel in the Frost Kingdom, indicating that he, too, was a prince. Soft strands of blonde hair had partially been braided back with the silvery threads as he sparkled with a mist that can only come from fairies made of ice.

Purity and radiance glowed off of him, his small wings delicately made of silver mist and long strands of sparkling ice.

Donghae softly chuckles, remembering feeling like dirt standing next to him.

There Eunhyuk was, made with the freshest of snow, never been touched, with soft, light pink, pillowed lips and a gummy smile, and yet there he was, conjured from a drunken Saturday Night by a Storm Fairy in a hurricane.

Eunhyuk was a pure example of everything good while Donghae was a havoc that wanted nothing more than to ruin it.

He remembers while the adults talked and the new representatives got to play in the castle (them all being younger than 10 years old), he had finally succeeded ruining a small piece of it, finally making his Eunhyuk cry.

He had purposefully tricked the overly kind boy to chase him outside, only to push the beautiful fairy into a pool of mud outside the premises.

The young lightning fairy had watched with horror filled eyes when Eunhyuk sank deeper into the sticky and slimy abyss, realizing he misjudged the depth of the pool as small wings became stuck and heavy with muck, ruining all chances to fly out.

He remembers the icy tears that flowed from Eunhyuk’s eyes as he cried for help, and if Donghae had flown back to get the adults it would have been too late for the boy.

The six year old saved Eunhyuk that day.

Using his forbidden magic to conjure up a lightning bolt, he made the hot, ragged strand of electricity strike a nearby tree and break off a long branch. Luckily, without Kangin’s help, there was no thunder, and he was able to silently pull the sinking Eunhyuk out without getting caught by the parents, not even minding the fact that the electrified tree had caught fire.

Eunhyuk’s soiled body was ruined with dark slime, so Donghae ran back to the garden to get a hose, begging Eunhyuk with all his heart to not tell on him as he tried to help him.

He was lucky Eunhyuk had just chosen to sit there and cry, giving him enough time to spend a whole hour rinsing Eunhyuk off.

The water had thankfully cleansed out the seven year old and also conveniently put out the fire, but the snow from which Eunhyuk’s clothes had been made from had melted, leaving Eunhyuk a blushing mess as he covered himself.

Luckily, sexual urges for Storm Fairies didn’t arrive until they hit 8 years old, so he just took his own ceremonial tunic off, made from the darkest of storm clouds, and ran off in his underclothes to find a younger boy named Ryeowook who happened to be the soon to be Weather Fairy of Air. He had embarrassed the poor 4 year old boy who had been playing hide and seek with the other fairies by showing up in his boxers, and maybe might have somewhat bullied him to go outside to use his forbidden magic, but in the end it worked out, because Eunhyuk was now dry and warm.

Which is actually a bad thing for a Snow Fairy.

So he had to run right back in and find 10 year old Heechul, the soon to be Weather Fairy of Temperature that was playing hopscotch with the soon to be Fairy of Rain, in order to beg and cry for him to make Eunhyuk freezing cold again.

The average temperature was causing the poor dry fairy to obtain a slight fever and it slightly scared him.

Heechul reluctantly agreed after some major convincing with the help of Hangeng, whom the beautiful girly male fairy called Chinese Bi-Rain, and came outside to help.

With Heechul’s help, Eunhyuk was able to reach his regular below zero body temperature and form his clothes again, gathering the particles in the air to make the Silver Snow appear once more.

Eventually, after the eldest soon-to-be weather fairy realized 4 of his fellow playmates were missing, the rest of the soon-to-be Weather Fairies came out to see what all the commotion was about.

There Donghae met, in this order nonetheless:

8 year old Sungmin, the soon-to-be Weather Fairy of Sunshine.

9 year old Yesung, the soon-to-be Weather Fairy of Clouds.

5 year old Siwon, the soon-to-be Weather Fairy of Time.

5 year old Kibum, the soon-to-be Weather Fairy of Night.

10 year old Leeteuk, the soon-to-be Weather Fairy of Peace.

9 year old Hangeng, the soon-to-be Weather Fairy of Rain.

7 year old Zhou Mi, the soon-to-be Weather Fairy of Day.

2 year old Henry, the soon-to-be Sky painter.

8 year old Shindong, the soon-to-be Weather Fairy of Earth.

And 6 year old Nari, the next Mother Nature.

All while in his boxers.

It was a very memorable day. At that very moment, while Donghae was getting scolded by all the elder soon-to-be Weather Fae, a pact was formed between them, all children swearing to keep this incident a secret only if Donghae apologized.

Donghae had huffed and pouted against it, but only because he was embarrassed… little Eunhyuk had looked beautiful again, and he almost kind of killed him. The rest of the kids left him to it, the next Weather Fairy of Peace looking at him sternly as if daring him to do otherwise.

He remembers sealing his fate, hesitantly going up to the blonde before leaning in and giving Eunhyuk his first kiss.

The kiss had sparked not only figuratively but literally, both boys had their eyes flashing as they held their electrocuted lips. The pain was invigorating, warmth seeped through both of their bodies and both became dizzy with an unknown passion. Eunhyuk had wanted to cry again, afraid of the strong feeling coursing through his body, but Donghae had wanted more, leaning in again to press more firmly as his lips froze and Eunhyuk’s lips buzzed, the pleasurable pain becoming more bearable as he tilted his head to deepen it, but all plans failed when their respective fathers came outside and found them in each other's embrace.

In his utmost defense, kissing, let alone making out, is actually a very normal gesture of affection in the Storm Kingdom. If you hadn’t kissed in some way by the time you were four years old you were by far an odd fairy out.

Yet in the Frost Kingdom, kissing was strictly forbidden until they were at the ripe age of 16, so when both fathers actually witnessed such sacred boundaries being broken right under their nose, Hyukjae was abruptly taken away from him.

Donghae sighs, mind going back to his present situation.

Eunhyuk was obviously distraught over something right now, the never ending plops of slush as key evidence, but there’s no possible way it was because he tried to kiss the elder in front of the Rose. No.. that wouldn’t make sense. Even after that ‘forbidden’ incident when they were little, it didn’t stop them from actually being with one another. Back then he didn’t care about restrictions and rules, and Eunhyuk actually adored him for it, so why was the other so upset now?

He’s been so good since they separated.

He hasn’t destroyed anything without reason, hasn’t naughtily created chaos with the other fairies, nor has he engaged himself with anybody else since their last ‘relationship’, so he doesn’t understand why the other is so adamant about him now.

It’s been years since they’ve last kissed, last embraced one another, but never has he felt any regret in pursuing the blonde, even AFTER all the trouble he got into for that purposefully intended innocent kiss.

It was an extremely big deal though, for when all of the appointed Weather Fairies had to be taken to Sapphire Arcadia every day to play, learn, and form a stronger bond with one another, he was on Restriction for a whole MONTH, locked up in a small room where Storm Magic wasn’t allowed as the Elders forced him to clean weapons for the Frost Kingdom as a form of punishment.

It was very hard for the energetic, young Storm Fairy.

He had cried when they threw him in there, the walls always feeling like they were enclosing on him and imprisoning the 6 year old for life even though it would have been only been a couple days.

He may had been a bit overdramatic back then, thinking pitifully that he would never feel happiness again as the guilt ate him alive, but to his utter surprise, it was probably the best thing that could have ever happened to him.

After two long days of Restriction, a certain young Snow Fairy had actually snuck out of class to pay him a visit.

He couldn’t believe his eyes when the sparkling mists of silver and white climbed in through the window, landing gracefully on his feet as he bashfully glanced over and asked if he was okay.

Donghae almost ran to kiss him again.

He really almost did.

But all thoughts evaporated when Eunhyuk continued to worriedly babble, claiming that he shouldn’t worry about it, that it was all forgiven and it wasn’t even his fault (even though it was), and how Eunhyuk still wanted to be his friend despite what his appa told him, etc etc.

Minor details.

But it made Donghae happy. He was just so, so very happy.

Never in his life has he met a fairy that could be so kind. It completely captured his heart.

The young blonde would even visit him in his enclosed room every day between lessons, practicing his forbidden magic to make them both snow cones before shyly letting Donghae hold his hand as they ate in peace. It was the best punishment he could ever ask for, and once that horrific-gone-amazing month had passed by, they were constantly attached at the hip.

Eunhyuk would follow him everywhere, fluttering behind him like a loyal butterfly as he unconsciously kept hold of either Donghae’s hand or the dark, thin cloud of his shirt. In return, Donghae would absolutely refuse to play with anybody that didn’t want to include Eunhyuk, beating up anyone who rejected the soft-hearted Snow Fairy join into their game.

He could honestly say that they were truly the best of friends.

His beloved Snow Fairy had even gained this cute little habit where every time Donghae smiled at him he would blush and flutter his wings, a silver mist sparkling about him with each light movement as he would shyly smile back.

It was beautiful.

No matter how many times Donghae smiled, this was always the reaction he got: Blush, flutter, sparkle, smile.

And he would only do that with Donghae.

Heechul would tease and say it’s only because he took a Snow Fairy’s first kiss, therefore that should explain Eunhyuk’s strange attachment and special treatment, but Donghae believed it was because Eunhyuk loved him too.

They were opposite of one another, yet completed each other in so many more ways than one.

Donghae was impulsive and direct, Eunhyuk was calm and soft-spoken.

Donghae was selfish and protective, Eunhyuk was considerate and thoughtful.

Donghae was carefree and adventurous, Eunhyuk was obedient and cautious.

They both had a sense of humor and they both were passionate about the things they loved, finding other common grounds within each other so their relationship would become resilient, unfaltering even with the disapproving stares or playful teasing by their friends.

They even gave their friendship a couple name, Eunhae, a mixture of their names just because they were so into being with one another.

It was bliss in every way and Donghae would never ask for anything more, but that all became a problem when Donghae turned 8 years old, the Coming-of-Age for Sexual Urges for Storm Fae.

It’s not like he chose to feel such inappropriate things, it was a natural process all Storm Fae had to go through, kind of like puberty for the Human race, but being 8 years old, in love, and constantly around the fairy of his affection had Donghae running to the bathroom every ten minutes, the young fairy refusing to touch his Eunhyuk or be intimate with any other fairy as a replacement.

It was painful really. Sex was an act of exchanging energy for Storm Fae, it was how they “recharged” so to speak, so when he forced himself at such an unsteady age to grow used to his hand, he had to live with being a bit sickly, constantly growing dizzy, losing sleep, and throwing up at random times, but he’ll be damned if he didn’t pride himself off it. For 5 years he was able to get away with it.

For 5 years he was able to gain a bit of self control and trained his will to last hours without touching himself.

For 5 long years, his constant excuses of “I have stomach issues” had actually worked for the innocent Snow Fairy.

But the day Eunhyuk tried to figure out why he kept running in the bathroom was the day he had Eunhyuk pushed up against the bathroom door with his tongue down his throat.

He was 13 then.
