I mean that's just stupid! Like they're going to make more money with Nick Cage or Paulie Shore than someoen like Julianna Moore. I will admit that there are a lot of movies written poorly for the leading roles, and that might be the supply or the demand side (a lot of writers are men, as are directors, and don't understand the women lead role as well as they do the male lead), but I will say The Invasion and The Strong One didn't exactally make as positive an impression as say... The Others
( ... )
Movies have always been the thing I've cared for most in the world that aren't people. I don't have a degree in anything relative to that (although economics would better analyse what that moron in charge is missing), but I've seen more movies in my life than most people my age, and read reviews and analysises for them all.
But if you'd be less shocked, I can say something offensive like "We need more movies with the bitches! How else am I supposed to see a movie staring a stripper exploring her sexuality with her younger sister?"
Sadly, he isn't the only one who thinks this. He's the only one saying it but I've noticed that when a movie fails, they blame the girls more often than, say, the script.
Even when I see a bad movie, I'm usually saying "Man, she was trying so hard to make this script work" not "This script is trying so hard to make her work".
