It was late, like usual, when Mao got home. Late enough that he wouldn’t have expected anyone to be there. Let alone seeing the familiar black vehicle outside his apartment. Though he saw it, investigated it, he didn’t expect much. There should still have been a few days before the confrontation.

But of course, he was wrong. Upon opening his door, there was the man he was currently hating, sitting on his couch, watching his TV and drinking his coffee. Mao scowled and shut the door, locked it, and walked passed the living room. It was late and he was tired, he had no interest in anything but his bed. And when the door opened after he’d closed it, preparing to get undressed, the vocalist wished he hadn’t given a spare key to his apartment to the younger man.

“What do you want?” Mao didn’t even look back, pulling his shirt off and grabbing a clean one, bigger then he was.

“You.” Arms slid over his skin and Mao was tense and shaking, shoving Miya away violently as the guitarist’s hands slid lower.

“What the hell Mao? I’ve been gone two weeks and this is the welcome I get?” The guitarist was angry but Mao couldn’t see how it was justified.

“Yes it is, considering you left without saying anything. No message or email ro note or anything. You didn’t call while you were gone and you come back expecting me to be happy to see you?” Mao turned and faced the other, glaring, eyes flashing with angry tears.

“Well here’s a reality check, I wish I’d changed my lock before you came back, or better yet, moved completely.” Shaking his head, the vocalist pushed passed Miya and left the room, wanting to lock himself in the bathroom. And he would have had the younger man allowed it.

“You knew I was going! It old you a week before, told you we were going on tour.” Miya had basically slammed Mao against the wall, holding the slight man in place.

“You’re drunk.” Mao was amazed, he didn’t think Miya would have gotten drunk before coming to see him, after being gone for so long. Even if Mao hadn’t been angry, he would have expected better. “Even if I wasn’t ready to push you out a window, I’d be sorely disappointed.” The vocalist all but spat in Miya’s face, shoving him away and continuing on his way, only instead of the bathroom, he went to the kitchen. He’d just realized he hadn’t eaten yet and ice cream seemed like a good idea.

“You know how Tatsurou and Satochi are like.” The argument was weak and Mao was now able to notice the slight stagger, the slight slurring in his voice.

“And I also know you’re able to turn them down.” His voice was bitter, his movements stiff with anger. “Get out Miya, I don’t want to see you right now. Take a cab, I wont have you driving either.” Mao spoke quickly and quietly, walking around the other with his quart of Ice cream and opening the door.

“Mao…” Miya tried but the vocalist was resolute, standing next to the door and staring straight. And just before the man left the apartment, Mao cleared his throat, eyes moving to the table by the door.

Sighing, the guitarist dropped his keys onto the table, taking his house key off first and then left. Mao shut the door behind him, in pain and tears and wishing it had been a better reunion.
