Interesting review of the pattern~! I haven't personally seen that one, but I find that most patterns are extremely lacking in making the illustrated instructions useful. Have you found any pattern makers to have adequate instructions included? I have used almost all of the typical commercial patterns (Simplicity, Butterick, McCalls, etc). But I found that even of the less-commercial patterns (Simply Victorian, folkware) are lacking in their instruction.

Also, on a tangent, I remember you mentioning there were certain serial plates identifications of the old Singer lines that shouldn't be restored.. I think I remember something about an "S" or "X" at the end of the number?

And... where did you say was a good place to get replacement belts? I remember you mentioning Bike shops?

As a General rule I try not to use patterns for anything more then reference or to get friends started out. However I find that the vast majority of patterns are badly written, once so badly that I mailed them a new set in frustration after I figured out what they were trying to say. The Few exceptions I can think of are JP Ryan’s, Alter Years (partially bias because I helped edit them) and some laughing moon (post 1996 copyrights ( ... )
