So, if you did not know, there has been a review for OotP posted on TLC. Found here  There was an advanced screening in Chicago. So I, of course, asked the person who wrote it up about Remus. Here is my question, and his answer.  There is some other info as well.

I have a question for you. I am a very big Remus Lupin fan, did he have much screen ( Read more... )

Yeah, I kind of wondered if they're planning to include the Remus/Tonks relationship at all. Because it was quite a small part of book 6 and they already have at least two other love interests in R/Hr and H/G (which was so much a part of HBP they couldn't possibly leave it out). Although I suppose it'll depend on whether Remus and Tonks have much importance to the plot of DH.

Still sad, though! I was hoping for at least a lingering glance! :)

Although I really can't be too depressed about when you use that icon.

I dared to hope there would be a bit of R/T interaction in this film, obviously I shouldn't have. As for the H/G thing in OotP, apparently, it’s basically non-existent, they give some of Ginny’s lines to Hermione and she has hardly any lines or screen time period. Carlos, the guy that saw the screening, said that there wasn’t much relationship foreshadowing. :(

Yes, sad, but as long as I get one good look at Remus I think I will be content. :P

Hehe, it makes me giggle and happy as well. XD

They better put R/T in HBP or the slashers will never give up. *bites nails*

I knew they would do that! The single most important moment in defining Neville's character, and they cut it. Bastards!

Also RE: the Marauders scene... we've now reached the point of no return for all the stuff they've cut from the other books. OotP is probably the last chance they had to repair the damage before it's too late, and it sounds like they've failed.

I was aggravated to hear the St. Mungos scene was cut as well. I think, I think I read that Neville just ends up telling Harry about his parents.

Yeah, I had such high hopes for this movie, and while I know they have to make major cuts it sounds like they cut some scenes that are really important. :(

Well, why should they change their modus operandi now? The first four films have made over $3 billion dollars - obviously they must be doing everything right! [/sarcasm]

Fuckers. I suppose we should consider ourselves lucky if they don't cut out Neville's backstory completely.

Ha, yes, they're geniuses, the films are perfect as is. *eye roll*

I know. I suppose I'll just be happy with what little I get. :(

I've been saying for months there would be little to no Remus in this movie. Looking at it from the movie makes perspective just in relation to the Marauder scene ( ... )

Oh, I knew there would be little to no Remus, but I was going to hope until I heard otherwise. Like you say, he's just not important enough from the film makers perspective. But, I am not a film maker, I am a die-hard Remus fan and I at least wanted the "Don't call me Nymphadora, Remus!" line. I would boycott were it not for the fact that I'm a Sirius fan as well. :P

Still, I am happy Remus has the scene where he holds Harry back from running after Sirius. It's something. :)

It is indeed something. And we can all imagine Remus standing in the background of the Advance Guard scene and whisper "Don't call me Nymphadora, Remus."

You know, I've been saying for a while that it seems like JKR got what she wanted out of Remus in PoA, and then didn't know what to do with him. But he was someone people expected to see more of, so she put him back in, and gave him a lurve interest because she/the fans felt sorry for him. But as far as the actual plot of the books/films go... he's already served his purpose.

Can't say as I'm surprised at the lack of Remus in the movie. I had heard that David Thewlis was filming another movie at the time and so was unavailable for many OotP scenes. So I wonder of there's no hint of R/T in this movie, whether they'll allude to it in the next or just ignore the whole thing. That would royally suck! But honestly, the book is gianormous! How can we expect them to get everything in there? Which leads me to question the need for having Grawp in the movie. (apologies to any Grawp fangirls out there.)

At least us Remus fans will have the 7th book to look forward to. There no mustasche on that Remus!

Was he filming another movie? That would explain some of the deplorable lack of Remus. It would be very nice if there were some allusion to the R/T thing in OotP, but from all that I hear I highly doubt it. And, I really, really hope that there will be a little R/T in the next, admittedly it's not really that important to the plot (from what we know now) but it was still an interesting scene (and a very important one to use Remus fangirls!). Yeah, there is just so much they have to cut, which is very sad. I can't be the only one who would sit there for 3-3 and a half hours if there were more Remus. :P The only reason I can think to have Grawp in there is that he was important to that one Umbridge scene.

Yes, thank goodness for book 7! Here's hoping he features prominently!

The reason to have Grawp in the movie is the same reason to have a 10 minute chase with a free dragon in GoF: they want to show off their special effects departments and create stunning visuals.

Well, at least it'll be interesting visually.

It sucks, but I'm not surprised, and really, from a screenplay perspective, there are other characters who could give Remus' lines. What I really don't understand is why they bothered to have him at all, if he's only getting a handful.

I'm not surprised either and you are very right, from the screenplay perspective he's just not really nescessary. Yeah, it doesn't make much sense, does it? You know what it is? They're teasing us poor Remus fans. Hehehe.

If only they'd tease without the 'stache!
