Marine Staff Sgt. Daniel Brown was blocked from flying while on his way home from an 8-month deployment in Iraq. He was listed as a suspected terrorist due to a previous incident in which gunpowder was detected on his boots, most likely a residue of a previous tour in Iraq.
U.S. Senator Edward Kennedy (D, Mass.) After repeated delays at airport security, the senator had trouble getting removed from the airline watch list despite calls to Homeland Security and eventually a personal conversation with the Secretary of DHS.
Sister Glenn Anne McPhee, the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops' secretary for education. Sister McPhee sought redress and removal from the watch list for nine months in 2004 and 2005 and it wasn't until she was able to elicit help from White House connections (Karl Rove) that DHS addressed her problem.
It's crazy that you post the second one because I was just reading something on that topic somewhere else.
Something else that struck me as fucking ridiculous that you may or may not approve of - some kid got sentenced to two years jail time for selling less than a joint's worth of weed. Yeah, drugs are illegal, but... I am just so appalled. If they're going to make weed illegal they might as well do the same for alcohol and cigarettes. It's ridiculous. Two years in a prison with people who have done far worse. He wasn't even a "dealer" per se. He was a young kid looking to make like $20 and sold it to a cop.
And then they wonder why our prisons are busting at the seams. Because they are busting young kids and throwing them in jail for stupid shit.
"More than one in 100 U.S. adults is behind bars."
Yes, Jeebus Cristoo Salavdor, I heard that on "Democracy Now!" Also, that one in 15 black males is in jail. It boggles the mind.
And! "Fuck undercover cops who try to get cops to sell drugs to them."
These jerks do really trivial shit. When I was in New Orleans (the armpit of the universe, though some love it) undercover cops would infiltrate Jackson Square (the heart of the French Quarter) and try to ENTRAP WINOS by begging for a sip of Ripple!
Goddam. Time to organize and take out the Winter Palace again, says I.
Ah, looking at my words now, that should have read "Fuck undercover cops who try to get kids to sell shit to them." But all the same, I'm sure I was understood.
"Time to organize and take out the Winter Palace again, says I."
