i prefer her version, too. i didn't know what she (they) were saying on the "jai guru deva om" part, though. seeing it in print makes it less embarrassing to try and get out.
It is a mantra, and it can be broken down as followed: Jai: I give salutations (or hope or victory) Guru: teacher Deva: Dev was a guru Om: a common term used in reference to the balance of the universe (it is frequently used in meditations).
So we have "I give salutations to the guru Deva," but my yoga instructor says that it can also be more poetic: "I give salutations to the most heavenly and guided teacher," or something similar in that nature.
I usually say this one:
"Om mani padme hum" or "the jewel is in the lotus."
The Beatles are like my favorite group ever though...like I've probably listened to way more Beatles than any other black man my age.....but Fiona did her thing with her cover of this song....
