Magic, Chaos, Fire and Death

Okay, Oxford area folks, The Prestige is out this week, and I'm planning to go and see it. It features a feud between Edwardian era stage magicians (which would be enough for me, of course) with a leavening of suspense, tricks, and twists in a non-linear narrative directed by Christopher Nolan ( Read more... )

Hope you enjoy it! I saw it last month when it came out over here, and thought it was excellent.

I'm quite looking forward to it, as I enjoyed the book, and I am fond of the era and like watching stage magic. Plus, with all those fan favourite actors, it would be hard to find something to dislike.

I have convinced triskellian to give studying a rest for Friday night, so count us in!

Shall we see you there, or did you want to meet up beforehand? (I'm actually teaching dance class until 7:00pm, so I will be getting myself to nickeyb's posthaste, but we could meet at that restaurant near the Vue.) Also, I am buying tickets tonight, do you want me to get you some, or will you arrange your own?

Not sure how timings are going to work out for us, so probably best if we buy our own tickets and see you there - save us seats if you arrive before us, and vice versa? (Five seats, yes?)

At least five, I think possibly six. I'll give you a call come the evening to coordinate/confirm.

Well, there's always The Illusionist, which I don't think has come out here yet, and which I would like to see as well. It's clearly the season for Victorian/Edwardian era stage magicians.

I hope so, too. (Reviews were mixed, but it looks pretty and fun.) Enjoy!

Tomorrow, huh? I could be up for that...

(Which one is 'Vue'?)

Vue used to be the Ozone, the cinema near Kassam Stadium, so you totally have no excuse not to come!

Also, I am buying tickets tonight, do you want me to get you some, or will you arrange your own? I may try to see if anyone wants to meet up at the restaurant next to the cinema as well, but I am teaching clas until 7:00pm, so am somewhat constrained.

Hmm, well, having been in a game all evening, I guess I'll have to see if I can arrange my own! :)
