Just to say that I'm back, and had a fantastic experience all round, albeit with a slight sense of never having enough time to do everything that I wanted to do. This was compounded by the fact that I started having some computer problems before I left, which I thought were virus related, but upon receiving tech support in Tokyo, discovered that I ( Read more... )

Hmm if its just the internal hard disk then its the same the world over - its more likely the shop in Japan only had SATA drives whereas I suspect given the age of your machine you need a 2.5" IDE drive. SATA have become standard in pretty much everything over the last couple of years. If its the external one then ignore this as yes the power suplies are different between japan and us. ;-)

Okay, I'll mention that when I get it checked out here. I may be able to get it covered under my insurance, which would be good.

Woo hoo! You're back and there's Yuletide! I don't think it would help, but if you can get email but not make the Yuletide site work, let me know and I can have a go at uploading for you.

Thanks! I was just able to get online to check my e-mail today, and my assingment looks fine, so I'm not too worried. Posting is to the AOOO this year, which will (I hope) make it easier, but it's the long load times here that are sometimes a problem, as the connection times out. So, I may need to call on your assistance, at a pinch. All the more incentive to finish early!

Where are you back at now? What's the next non-writing plan?
I haven't succeeded in getting your coat off Tommy since you left, perhaps you'd rather keep in now? If not, I'd still love it.

Well, I'm planning to be back in the UK sometime before the start of April, and possibly as early as mid February so it won't give you much time. I've started looking at jobs and applications in the meantime.
