Would anybody explain why, in every book or play I'm interested in, all of the characters that I'm attatched to die? Take The Lord of the Deep Cavern. The main character, Edmond Bombastus, is this sailor who ends up framed by his best friend. That is quite shameful. It's always the cute, likable people that are either going to die or are bad guys. Did he ever get his revenge?

Yes. Well, the creepy alien parasite got revenge for him, and then he didn't kill the guy who betrayed him in the first place because the guy's flaming son Albert kissed him, which somehow expelled the parasite, but the parasite kept the shard from Albert's entirely likable friend Franz(who also died) from killing him.
