Mssr. Valdez, HOW CAN YOU GIVE UP SOME CHEESE? ::appalled::

I'm a terrible n00b at running too, but I've been entering into races...I find it helps me keep motivated if there's like, a test at the end, haha.

In other news, how cool! re: moving to G-town and backyard farming. I've been balcony-growing things in Alexandria, and herbs need a reasonable amount of sunlight...I've got tomato seeds and lettuces for next year, and I hear tomatoes grow like gangbusters in our neck of the woods.

You should get some backyard chickens :P

YO I totally am reppin' the cheez over here I just am trying to not eat as much of it! Same goes for the fried goods.

I'm not sure races are really my thing but after a month or two of light training I will see how it works out.

I guess if herbs need a reasonable amount of sunlight then I might not go for them but lettuce is for sure a distinct possibility as are climby vegetables like beans. I am not too terribly into tomatoes but meh I can trade them or at least make them into sauces.

Also chickens would be awesome...hrm...

hi a.c.! unfortunately, we do not have much of a back yard, but we have enough of a yard that we can plant some herbs (herbs that do not need a ton of sunlight...we have a lot of tree shade). mint is very resilient (and i love making my own mint tea). i just bought a compost bin so that i could improve the soil in the small yard that we have.

they sell greeting cards that are embedded with wild flower seeds. you plant the card and you get wildflowers. i thought this was the coolest idea ever.

congrats on the running habit! i think the best races are the ones that are sponsored by pubs or a beer company because they usually have great post race parties. :) happy new year! i hope that 2009 is your best year yet!

Mint is definitely high on my list of things to grow, as are: sage, kale, broccoli, onions, leeks, and carrots (if the soil will support the carrots). Broccoli is supposed to be pretty easy and high-yield which is kind of awesome.
