So, the day had come when Jonathan Ford, bastard extraordinaire and proud of it, found himself with a student. A most unwilling student, who up until a few days ago hadn't had the faintest idea that she had abilities that she might need tutoring in. A student who were ruled by a strict day-to-day routine, which threatened to send her into panic ( Read more... )

She'd managed to get through her routine as she wanted. She had done most everything during the day that she needed done, keeping herself on track even though she knew that this was the start a very unhappy day. She was not looking forward to seeing this Ford person and she really hoped that he wouldn't show up. That it would all go away. Ten minutes to one, and she found out how very real it all was.

It wasn't that during the coarse of her day, she couldn't make changes. She was capable of adapting to a point. She just couldn't let herself get far too sidetracked or too distant from the point. Things needed to be efficient. She had no idea if Ford was efficient. What she did know, is that he was now early. Darcy opened the door and frowned, stepping back to let him in, slightly bothered that he'd gotten coffee for himself since she was looking forward to upsetting him by not having it ready for him. She still wasn't finished cleaning her kitchen after lunch and it was going to have to get done now, whether he liked it or not. " ( ... )

Well, he had seen earlier how she was, so he didn't comment on her not being the best of hostesses but rather opting on finishing cleaning. Not being one for idle and pointless chitchat, he didn't ask how she was doing or how her day was. He just sort of wandered around the house, keeping to the hall and living room, looking at this and that while drinking his coffee. Eventually he wandered into the kitchen.

"I'd half expected you to have run away," he mused. He'd pictured it, too, how he'd have to track her down and drag her back kicking and screaming. "Glad you didn't."

She was wiping down the counter when he wandered in behind her. She took a deep breath, tapped the counter three times and turned to face him momentarily only to put away her supplies. She really didn't care what he thought of her or what he thought of her hosting abilities. She didn't want him here. She wasn't going to pretend that she did. Instead, she crossed her arms over her stomach and rocker he weight onto one hip.

"In case you haven't noticed," she started, a distinct bite in her tone, "I have a set routine I have to go through and running away would be something that would completely ruin that. I'm not exactly a flight risk."

He chuckled briefly, setting his now empty paper cup on the counter. Then, deciding to play nice for now, he picked it up and went to throw it away. That would probably upset her less, right? Than him leaving trash on her counter?

"There is that," he conceded. She really wouldn't run, would she. "Though I've gotta ask, due to my curious nature and all. Do you like being this way? Would you like to stay this way? Or would you like to be able to be rid of your routine?"
