Maybe Ford had had a rough day, but Sarah's day had actually gone fairly decently. She'd managed to convince Dick that her business was her business and none of his, and if he'd been a bit hurt about it, by now he was over it.

She'd even been able to get to bed at a reasonable hour. Which is why her cell ringing in the middle of the night pissed her off.

She rolled over, flung a hand out to grab it, thinking that maybe Dick had gone out drinking and needed a ride. Without looking to see who was calling, she flipped it open and growled, "This'd better be damn important."

"Of course it is," came Ford's gruff voice over the line. There were definitely no 'Hello, how are you?' niceties going on. "I'm bored. Entertain me."

"Oh, Hell. Ford? That you?" She sighed, rolled back over, burying her face in her pillow for a minute. "If I tell you a bedtime story, will ya put the damn phone down and go to bed? Do you know what time it is?"

"Somewhere between dusk and dawn." You could almost hear his shrug in his voice. "And I'll go to bed when I'm finished hanging out with Mr. Jim Beam. But he wanted more company than mine, and since you're the only one I know who's awake you're stuck with us."
