Character: Shelly de Killer
Fandom: Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney
Character Notes:
History: Shelly de Killer is the third in a line of professional assassins. Nothing else about his personal background is known.
Not long ago, he was involved in a case that very nearly ruined his reputation - the scene of one of his murders was tampered with; his client, the famous actor Matt Engarde, was arrested; and Shelly's own moral code forced him to do some "aftercare": his client requested the kidnapping of Phoenix Wright's young assistant, and the assassin did just that. The conditions for the assistant's release were simple... a full acquittal for Shelly's client.
Despite the assassin's efforts (he hid in Matt Engarde's mansion under the guise of his "butler", John Doe), Phoenix Wright's investigation still led to him. This, coupled with various other factors, made Shelly decide to testify in court as one last attempt to protect his client (he used a very silly two-way radio that looks like his face and made Edgeworth pinky-swear that they wouldn't try to trace the signal).
Luckily, the spiky-headed lawyer who had made things so complicated ended up simplifying everything in the end by uncovering the truth: de Killer's client intended to blackmail him. This was a serious violation of their moral contract and thus, Shelly terminated the deal... and swore to kill Matt Engarde no matter what. He probably did it in a week, tops.
Since then, he has been going about his life as usual, merrily doing his job. He is currently looking for a successor, as he realises he might be getting a little old for this line of work.
Personality: Shelly de Killer is a professional - and overly so, one might argue, as it seems his personality was shaped by his job.
One thing that is readily evident, apart from his striking politeness, is his sense of honour. Assassins with a conscience aren't very common, but Shelly highly values trust and honesty above all. If a client disregards these personal rules, they may find themselves in a bit of a pickle... as there will be a very irritated assassin out to get them. And you don't mess with de Killer: he takes his job very, very seriously.
He is very reserved about other aspects of his life, as he barely has one of his own. If you engage in casual conversation with Shelly (God knows how), you may notice that, despite his controlled feelings and mannerisms, he only ever seems to be comfortable talking about murder and the like. If you ask any seriously personal questions, then he REALLY clams up, both because he doesn't want to answer and because he wouldn't know how to. He tries to avoid lying even in such cases, as his moral code extends beyond his occupation.
Other: I'm deeply convinced that Shelly loves animals, especially dogs and cats. His life as an assassin made him jaded as hell, but he still believes animals are mostly innocent at heart. He's a murderous Snow White, I guess.
