The crutches of social networking sites (i.e. Facebook)

Having been on Facebook for 2 years now, we know that we don't talk to all of our 397 or 768 contacts on the friends list. Sometimes the only way to be updated on acquaintances' lives is via the profile page, where they tell you if they're happily attached, on the verge of a break-up, if they're awake at 5am playing games etc. My page is on
