After a senseless amount of hearings and legal footwork, it has been decided that I will be serving my sentence in an American prison. Having been arrested and detained on American soil, it seems only fitting. Of course, it makes little difference to me. Does it matter where an old man like me spends his remaining days, so long as they are peaceful ( Read more... )

I am glad to hear that you are not being treated unkindly.

However, I feel I should point out that the reunification was desired by both nations, and that the Republic of Babahl agreed to reunite with the Kingdom of Allebahst only if certain reforms were put into effect. Concessions are being made on both sides.

The laws of the past were unnecessarily stringent and traditionalistic, stuck in a past the rest of the world had moved beyond. Cohdopia's two provinces should meet the future together as an entirely new nation, not merely another version of the old.

A new nation indeed. I have doubts that the outcome will be as different as you might hope for, Mr. Palaeno. A little lip service paid to the Unification Committee is hardly revolution.

You are of course entitled to your opinion, but I am much more optimistic. So far, I find the changes promising! And certainly more sweeping than mere lip service.

Ha! Believe what you like. It hardly matters to me in here, does it?

Wait, Cohdopia was actually willing to extradite you? You have to be joking!

There's nothing a bit of elbow grease won't do, Mr. Lang.

Does the newer, kinder Cohdopia even have the death penalty, Mr. Alba?

In Cohdopia, the death penalty is the kinder option.

You fought tooth and nail to be transferred to an American prison, I presume.

Why would I have need to do that, when there are so many others willing to fight for me? I barely lifted a finger.

Fools may be loyal to you, but not for long.

Your investigation hasn't managed to turn up all my little soldiers, dear Franziska. There are quite a few left that have no choice but to remain loyal to me.

Truly a shame about all that's happened, Mr. Alba. But I'm glad to see you made it here where things are fairly hospitable.

Hospitable is an understatement. Internet access, catered meals--even a cell with a window is an improvement over my former lodgings. In fact, I rather feel like I'm back at the Embassy.

Never thought I'd be seeing your mug around here again.

You should just sit back in your cell and let the Ambassador do his job, pal. You gave up that title when you broke the law.

Strange. I thought I was merely expressing an opinion in my personal journal. I don't believe that constitutes usurping Ambassador Palaeno's duties.

Oh. Well I guess that's alright then.

But you oughta know Ambassador Palaeno's great! He lets me eat at the embassy cafeteria and gives me lots of free samples, too.
