i think i would have beaten them all to death. there's fuck all wrong with being middle-class. my entire family is irish-catholic and were agonisingly poor when they came to liverpool. it's taken them 'til my generation to even get all of their kids into secondary school and (hopefully, in the case of my broher and sister) into university. having said that, my grandmother is so painfully bourgeois she won't even admit she's from scotty road and that her grandfather was a furrier. she's like hyacinth from keeping up appearances.
