This afternoon, crossing Waterloo Bridge, I saw a sign attached to one of those temporary bus stops more often deployed in situation comedies than real life, warning buses of 'rutting'. The Richmond Park associations of this put me in mind of buses themselves rutting: overcome by the season and charging at each other in a madness of sexual jealousy and reproductive imperative. Also reminded me of your post, which I had not long since read.
Anyway, if this leads to a crisis that pulls you out of one or more of these well-worn channels, I hope it's a positive one. And if it doesn't, well, consider the language of the Clinique advert that frequently appears on my Tumblr stream: "Remember to set goals and celebrate them when you reach them"; the best argument yet for relapse into passivity and torpor...
i'm sure i've seen more temporary bus stops in real life than in sitcoms.
i don't really have crises... i almost wish i did. i'm just not that dramatic. i might be building up nicely to a mid-life one though... i know i have to get out of this job. but into what, f!ck knows.
I put a lot of hopes into my mid-life crisis. I look under the letterbox for it when I get home every day. Still hasn't arrived yet. A steady income is a prison.
I wonder if Tumblr thinks I'm female? Here's another Clinique ad that makes me want to go postal: "Remain positive maintain a can do attitude and always look for solutions to problems" You can see the difficulty.
