Yeah, if someone like me calls, you'd be looking at your phone like, "what the heck kind of number is THAT!?" *lol* European numbers are odd, and seem to have no particular pattern of how many digits are in city codes or house numbers. I've had city codes be 4-5 digits, and someone's number be anywhere from 5-7 digits. It's really confusing. And then if you have a cell phone, the "city" code for that doesn't correspond to the city you live in, it's just whatever the phone company gives you. And rates for calling cell phones are typically higher than calling a land line. But at least their cell system is cheaper in that they don't charge your minutes for incoming calls (a move that the U.S. is slowly bringing into rotation).
