Wow. Is it possible that this is an accident in which none of the parties were at fault? It sounds like it.

Obviously I'm glad you guys are both OK.

Digital cameras are a wonderful thing.

This has basically induced me to carry mine everywhere, as much as is feasible, which I only did sporadically before.

For the record, the CHP report shows 'other than driver' at fault, meaning neither of those involved, and in fact the person who dropped the mattress. So, yeah.

i'm glad you're ok! accidents are scary, but highway accidents way more so.

heh. i have one of those, a gift that sholladay brought me from the hospital's gift shop. its name is "Tumbly," which made me wonder whether they have different stuffed animals for different sorts of accidents or illness...

thanks. before the firemen came, it was pretty creepy, because traffic was not only continuing to the right of us, but people were merging to the *left* of us as well, into the carpool lane, sort of trapping us in the middle.
