here is a sad post.  i don't know why i'm writing about this now, but i am.

a few weeks ago i attended a lecture/seminar at U of T, in which a man from the Sudan spoke about his experience of being captured, taken away from his family and put into slavery when he was 7 years old.  he told us about how for 10 years he worked for a family in the north ( Read more... )

hmmmm this IS a sad post...

i also find that sometimes hope is hard.

and it is sad that we often forget to at least TRY to know what other people experience and endure.

you know what irks me - that hope is exactly the kind of thing some scientists would aspire to explain. as if being able to understand its evolution, or the chemical pathways involved, is the important thing...
